well okay i have both.

MYSPACE:
pros -
bulletins can be fun when you're bored
profiles can show more about u, unlike aim
pictures can be fun to show to others
commenting friends is always fun
myspace has IMing too so...

cons -
i really dont have any except for that u cant have chatrooms

AIM:
pros -
its just a fast way to talk to people

cons -
again i don't really have any

conclusion: myspace is probably better although having both is much better for me because a lot of my other friends dont have myspace. aim is just for people who want to talk to friends fast and myspace is for like really showing people who you are and posting pics.

It depends on solely what you want to do with either program, as they can be very different.

AIM is interesting for meeting new people via common interests without having to fool around with searching through masses of ad-riddled web pages that are often ugly and ridiculous, like MySpace (especially when it comes to load times). You can also very easily keep track of your friends, IM them, and see what they're up to with a right-click of your mouse.

MySpace is good for personalizing a page and giving people something to look at, as it supports photos, videos, and links between interests. However, MySpace is a rather poorly laid-out website and fails to have any real standards of people who they let use it. You will often get invites from fake accounts rather than what you're looking for. AIM is considerably safer (granted you know what you're doing) and cleaner to deal with. MySpace too often is used as someone's internet vanity playground.

However, MySpace can introduce you to some great music and talented bands. Its videos section, meanwhile, leaves alot to be desired (seeing as Youtube already easily does its job).

AIM is:

*Safe
*Alot of people have AIM

Myspace is:
*Not that safe
*It was original made for single adults to meet other single adults

See, I have AIM, and I think it's way better than myspace. Myspace, it's not really like IMing with one person, your IMing with everyone who goes on your profile. It's only good to see other people's if they want you too, if I were you get AIM!

personally its just a matter of preference. i mean aim is just a messaging service but myspace has that and a little bit of everything. sorry but you have to figure this one out for yourself. myself i use both cause i like both if it helps.
