The Stuttering Foundation of America - it is fabulous as it helps children who stutter, provides free books and DVDs to any public library so parents and stutterers can access them free, and has a world of information on their web site www.stutteringhelp.org to help parents of young children who start stuttering. They are a nonprofit group and almost all of their donations are used solely to help others. They have an extremely small staff for all that they do worldwide.

Alternative Gifts International

Mission: The global mission of AGI is to send authentic, life-giving gifts to a needy world - gifts that build a partnership with people in crisis and that protect and preserve the earth's endangered environment - to nourish and sustain a more equitable and peaceful global community.

The projects AGI lists are administered by nonprofit agencies that have made a contractual agreement with AGI to spend 100 percent of the grant made to them on the project alone. Also, they agree not to use any of the funding on their at-home administration. Donors can rest assured their donation will be used to make a difference in someones life. AGI follows up to ensure this. Furthermore, each agency undergoes rigorous screening before it is selected.
