Yeh. Reminds me of a dictator does this God chap ( hows he looking these days, oh yeh you dont know ). telling people how to live and using propeganda to get them to believe and not question his power or existance. The propeganda is the talk of a heaven and the bible. Only gullable people follow religion, human beings dont. In a world of freedom how can anyone following religion say they are free when they are all be it not forced ( usually anyway )required by there faith to comply with certain rules and acts. Sounds very questionable really.
Maybe in 2000 years when the Bible, koran and whatever other religious books are about will be replaced by something of our time when people change there religion.
Remember before the religions of today people believed in the sun moon etc then 1 man was all of a sudden made creator of all things so whats next? a super computer that predicts the future. HAHAHAHA
I reckon God/Allah was once the leader of a group of people on earth sometime in the past who created a myth that has been passed on down the ages like a game of chinese whispers. You know that makes more sense than what the bible says

i agree 100%, i don't follow any religion at all, i believe in god,and that god is love! and we don't need religions to guide us through our way in life, there is something called logic, we all know what's right and what's wrong based on logic.and religions now-a-days are a source for problems more than anything else, some people are using religion as an excuse to justify their actions, whether right or wrong.Extremists are using religion to produce hatred, extremism and racism, i am talking about ALL the religions.A lot of people are following their religion incorrectly, they follow it in whatever way thats suits them!
so YES the world would be a happier and a much peaceful place with no religion at all.i am definite!

you dont want me to stop believing - believe that.
you should be thankful that religion cages the beast that is humankinds dark side, gives us someone to answer to, means there are consequences to our actions. your life would be a whole lot different and probably a whole lot shorter if humans had nothing to fear.
- also on a lighter note - given the absolute certainty that youre going to die coupled with the slightest possibility of there being an afterlife, any logical person can realise that time taken to believe is well worth it - what you got to lose, youre dying as you read this and me as i type.
i dont see any logic in not having a religion.
a quick prayer and a read of a religious text which will take all of 5 - 10 mins in exchange for the slightest possibility of something more than this world. bargain.

That would have to eliminate science also. Scientology is a form of religion, you willing to do that. No matter where you look you will find religion, the religion of no religion. Trying to convert someones way of thinking is a form of religion. Thankfully the Atheists doesn't go to the great lengths the Muslims do. Religion is a term for a certain belief that results in an action. So anyone that thinks they have no religion is just fooling themselves.

I think it would be best if people were exposed to many ways of thinking, many beliefs, and would choose for themselves what makes the most sense.
The problem I see is that people are imposing their beliefs upon children. "Get em while they're young". Children who are taught not to question, but only to accept what they are told.
The problem isn't religion, the problem is all the brainwashed zealots and their institutions designed to reprogram youth.

YES!! And you forgot to mention, a more peaceful world. If people want to believe in crazy stories, and have a 2000 yrs old book to guide them they are free to do it. I dont care. But when they have to shove it in your face, hate everyone their book tells them to and start wars because of it, then they should all be shot on sight. Religion is a social plague. Period. Even if there are good deeds around they are always overshadowed by wars and radicals.
To barefoot_girl: We dont need a book or an imaginary being to make us obey to the laws of society, we can achieve that by ourselves.

You can be evolved pond ooze and then descended from monkeys if you want to, but I was created by a superior being, and we call him "God". Religion gives moral direction, knowing right from wrong and the awareness that you'll have to account for yourself one day, after you die. What we DO need is people to stop with the religion fanatacism... like muslims who kill everyone that thinks diffferently. Fanatics are the problem, not God.

Absom-o-lutely my intelligent friend.
Not a single war would be started. All wars are started by religion.
It doesnt make sense to you because indeed, there is NO sense in following (unless someone is insecure and easily brainwashed of course).

not all...religion is part of philosophy is not possible to live without any kind of belief...the wrong is when a religion is used with political or economical intentions (that is what happens nowadays with many (if not all) religions) and this is the problem
