Man has never co-existed, but rather, subdued nature (Which was accursed because of sin) to exist. Simplistic truth of this is the design of nature itself. Ever notice how a thorn is turned to snag the flesh, to torment, rather than turned to repell ? Stop worshipping the created, and look towards the Creator.

I don't think the old religions are being ignored. I can give you a whole long list of people who follow the old ways, I for one.
The reason the old religions were banished by the Christians and the Monks, was because the aformentioned were afraid of them, and outcast them as evil witches and sorcerers. This wasn't true, of course, as you well know if you follow the old ways, but I think you'll find the Christians and Monks were afraid of the Druids initially.
I think it's fascinating that your grandmother was born in a Romany Caravan, because deep down inside, it is my dream to own one, and acquire a horse, so that I can roam free, and get some quality of life back. Just think what it would be like under the moon and the stars, with nobody to answer to but your horse and yourself.
I agree too, that knowledge of life, healing powers and the wisdom that the members of the old religions, outside education had, was wonderful. We think life is hard today, but boy, it was much, much harder way back when, but they still used to cope.
I've walked through a forest as you suggest, and listened... also by running water, and longbarrows... you can always hear that sound of whispering. No, I'm not crazy... I have even heard singing. I believe!

There are several errors in your concept. Man has existed for about 4 1/2 million years and most of the time without any god...Man created God as an answer to what happens after we die, and others sculpted it in to models for men to follow so as not to harm others. People fell into a clanship with nature because they had no other solutions for the destructive forces of nature. Whether or not your grandmother knew things or if you only assume that she knew things about life is irrelevant as by the test of time, those things were not as important as you believe...or they would not have been forgotten. Man is wise enough to retain important facts and forget trivial. Organized religion is apparently your main concern. Isn't it better for people to have some guidelines in their lives than nothing? You should blame Constantine for creating an amalgam of both paganism and Christianity but not organized religion. Think about the good of church work in helping the poor and hungry people of the world and then offer them a hill top or a forest....which has more substance to them? While religion has many faults, it has a unifying factor by drawing people together in common goals, even cannabalism drew people together. Schism is not good as it creates more hatred.

Pagan cleaning............... the current corrupt religions take great pains to remove all threats to their profits by modifying history to suit the current trend.
Luckily paganism is thriving a bit again now and goes some way to help prove that all religions are just the thoughts of the human animal, and have no basis for existing as its all fiction.

you forgot about the money aspect, and materialism. the problem is people cant really think for themselves, they learn stuff and thats as far as it goes. most cant get inside themselves deep enough to figure things out, so they turn into sheep and follow someone else.i know what you mean by surrounding yourself in natures beauty. when you take into consideration some people have never seen a pig or a cow, let alone a deer or anything wild, all they know is what theyve seen which is suberbia and shopping malls. if they cant get to the simple stuff, they will never comprehend the complex.

Out of fear and ignorance. You're right, it wasn't until the Christians came into the picture and started persecuting people for practicing the ways of the Old Religion that the fear of it began. I'd probably resind the way too if I knew they were going to rip me away from my children and burn me at the stake. That's why it is considered an underground religion.

It is not just organized religion.
Almost all organized groups could start innocently seeking fulfillment and freedom, but you cannot prevent certain leaders to be control freaks eventually turning the once enlightened group into fascists.
It is like George Orwell's Animal Farm.
Yeah, North Korean Athiests really appear to be free **sarcasm**
No one is truly an athiest. Everyone worships something whether they know it or not. In the US, it is usually the worship of greed and sex.

i totally agree with you. there is no place like nature. i try and get there whenever i can. its is calming and spiritual. as long as there are pagans such as myself the old ways will not be forgotten and neither will the true spirit of nature.

I think you'll find that the Old Religion (in various forms and interpretations) is not "ignored". There are still those who listen, and our numbers are growing.
