Engine is consuming oil the PVC Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve on this car is hard to change. I would reccomend changing the PVC and the hose to it first. If the engine is actually worn out the engine oil will blacken fast. Although very good cars the first year Altima is getting a little old by now. Don't get lazy always keep new filters on your car keep change interval the same. I don't have to change oil I will just keep adding oil. That will not work and kill off your motor faster.

i own a repair shop, and id start looking for any leaks ,if none are found,,you might need valve stem seals in the engine,,they,ll cause it to use some oil,,but you wont notice hardly any smoke from it,,other than that it may be actually burning oil through the rings,,this is uncommon for a Nissan though, unless it has been run hot before,,id have it checked,,you need a hands on diagnoses for this one,,good luck hope this help,s.

I think the first guy said it best. If its using oil it has to be going some where. Its either being burnt up, or leaked out.
Take it to a mechanic and have then take a look, it should cost more then $40 to have them look at it and give you a good answer.

It's either burning it or leaking it.If there is no visable leaks then it must be burning it.Is there blue smoke when you get on the gas hard?If yes then the rings are bad.If you don't mind putting oil in every 20 days then drive it.Otherwise trade it in or sell it.

My Mitsubishi does the comparable element. I purely carry better oil and acceptable it off whilst needed. The upside is your oil is often staying sparkling. Your motor vehicle is purely too previous to spend the form of money that is going to require to restoration it.
