That's one of the solutions to help stabilize the region. What it will do is save lives and help prevent attacks. It's an unpopular solution but probably the best one. The less police and troops around the more attacks will increase. So it will speed up the process of the Iraqis stabilizing the region and policing there own state.

Bush will indeed send more troops to Iraq but the actual number that is sent is still being decided.
Most people are not aware that the new Democratic Congress has to accept the decisions that were made at the end of the Republican's Congress session. That includes the already approved sending of additional troops to Iraq even if the Democrats would oppose such action.
There really isn't much choice in the matter as the military needs to be increased and start treating Iraq as a war again instead of as a policing action.

Wow, it does keep on growing, and it may very well be possible. We will find out for sure next week when Bush makes an address to the nation with a new strategy for Iraq. If we do send another 50K troops, we must have a mission for them, accompanied with other programs to help the cause. For example in my opinion we should:
1.) make a new deal type of jobs program to help with reconstruction, the benefits of this would be fewer insurgents, and a happier population.
2.) Take out Sadre or however you spell it, and his HUGE army.
3.) Make the gov't of Iraq actually do something to counter the insurgents.
4.) Get more of the adults and children in school
5.) secure the borders of Iraq
6.) anything else I may have missed, but I am not in favor of sending any more troops unless we do all of this as well.

Bush has decided to ignore the vote of the people. He has also decided to ignore his own Generals in Iraq and the conditions on the ground in Iraq. The service members that I talked with in Iraq say more troops will not help. Iraq is in Civil war now and according to the service members I read interviews made, they can only stand and watch them kill each other. The Impeachment of both Bush and Cheney is the only course of action for Democrats in Congress.

The number is still being debated, but yes, more troops are being sent over seas.
It's an aid to stabilizing the region and helping them set up their government to decrease the attacks on the locals and speed up the process.
It might even work. Who knows?

no he will not that is not even an option for him. The democrats have told him in two letters sent to him today that they would not approve of more troops being sent because the generals on the ground that actually do the fighting say that it is not a military fight now but a political one

Unfortunately that is true. I didn't think we had that many left here at home to send. I don't know what we will gain, but I do know what we will lose-more troops.

YES SURE WHY NOT... AND FOR MANY RESONS:
1 : HE WONT SEND HIS RELATIVES
2 : THERE IS NO ONE TO SAY NO
3 : HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEM OR ABOUT THE PEOPLE THEY ARE GOING TO KILL
4 : HE WILL TAKE MORE MONEY TO FINANCE HIS OWN WAR
5 : HE THINKS HE'S THE GOD SO HE IS ABLE TO DO WHAT EVER HE WANTS.
