Lilith is a female Mesopotamian night demon believed to harm male children. In the Book of Isaiah, Lilith (לִילִית, Standard Hebrew Lilith) is a kind of night-demon or animal, translated as onokentauros in the Septuagint, as lamia "witch" by Hieronymus of Cardia, and as screech owl in the King James Version of the Bible. Lilith also appears as a night demon in the Talmud and Midrash. She is often identified as the mother of all incubi and succubi. Late medieval Jewish legend portrays her as the first wife and equal of Adam. Considering Adam inferior, Lilith left the Garden of Eden of her own free will (Other stories claim Lilith refused to lie under Adam, as she considered that this was too submissive). Adam then bade three angels to find Lilith and bring her back. When Lilith refused, God punished her by commanding that she slay 100 of her children, called Lilin, each day. Lilith is also sometimes considered to be the paramour of Satan.

lol. Actually, Mrs. Bush was the first woman, not Eve. That's why they call her first lady. lol
Okay, I guess that was a cheesy joke. Anyway, onto the serious stuff. I've never heard the story about Lilith, but it is not in the Bible, so obviously that story was not from the word of God. That is why we believe that Eve was the first woman. I doubt that the Bible editiors would have gotten away with removing anything from the Old Testament, because then the Jews would know about it. I am sure they would have said something, but obviously they believe in Eve being the first woman too. Also, people could not have changed the Old Testament in ancient times, because ancient Jews used to memorize LARGE portions of scripture. If anyone was sneaky and tried to change anything while copying the scrolls, people would know.

I've heard of Lilith and how she was kicked out of the Garden of Eden first. God made her as a helpmate to Adam and she wanted no part in it. Symbolically, it made sense that God would want Adam as head of the family unit and have Lilith as his partner. With Lilith's rebellion, He had to have a replacement, so Eve was formed.
Eve's children were genetically perfect and God allowed brothers and sisters to marry because of the purity of the human DNA. After the Great Flood, God put a stop to intermarriages, but some continued for quite a while. The Egyptian Pharaohs were marrying the sisters a lot back then. It's a bit of a dark joke about folks from Arkansas being incestuous, too.
Heard that Lilith gave birth many times and is the mother to monster-like children that plagued Adam and Eve's children. Maybe someone else can elaborate on who was the father of her children. I forgot.

different beliefs, i don't know the christian bible that well, i think lilith appears in the jewish religion, and other older bibles. many of the old testement tales in the christian bible appear slightly different in the bible christians hold so dear, Remember this so called word of god, has been rewritten several times by kings queens popes , other rulers. . and what about when the bible was first traslated, possible mistraslations when the scribe doesn't speak the language being made into latin.
enough of this rant, the early christian priests were men, and the men of the time could not except that a woman was powerful.

There are un-Biblical legends that Adam had a wife before Eve who was named Lilith. The legends vary significantly, but they all essentially agree that Lilith left Adam because she did not want to submit to him. According to the legends, Lilith was an evil, wicked woman who committed adultery with Satan and produced a race of evil creatures. None of this is true. There is NO BIBLICAL basis whatsoever for these concepts. There is no one in the Bible named Lilith. Genesis chapter 1 does not record the creation of Lilith with Genesis chapter 2 recording the creation of Eve. Rather, Genesis chapter 2 is a "closer look" at the creation of Adam and Eve as recorded in Genesis chapter 1. The Bible specifically says that Adam and Eve were the first human beings ever created (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:18-25). This "Lilith" myth is popular in some radical feminist movements because Lilith is an example of a woman refusing to submit to male headship.

In all my studies, there is no Lilith mentioned - only Eve. Eve was made out of Adam's rib. Genesis 2:21-25. I will keep you in my prayers for the Lord to give you the answers you seek.

True, she was edited out of the torah and the reason you put forth is correct. You are an astute scholar. But you failed to mention Lilith's son Rasine. Adam hated Rasine and was prepared to sacrafice him for God. Lolith ran away with Rasine and went to the land know today as Ethiopia. She was never referred to again the the discarded books that scribes learned from the verbal tradition.

I never knew of this. Amazing. Thank you.
But of course any woman who doesn't have ten babies and live happily ever after under the thumb of a person randomly blessed with a penis is evil and crazy.
Until about 80 years ago (incidentally, when men decided women were smart enough to vote in the U.S.), unmarried, rebellious, sexually promiscuous, or "feminist" women ("I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is. I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat," noted British writer Rebecca West in 1913) were commonly thrown in asylums and labeled mentally ill or hysterical.

Lilith is a nocturnal female demon originating in Babylonian tradition, said to harm male children. Lilith is mentioned in the Bible in Isaiah 34:14, where her name is translated as "screech-owl" in the King James Version. According to medieval Jewish lore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam, who left Eden of her own choice because she considered Adam inferior. For this reason, she has recently become a symbol of the feminist movement.
Please read the Bible properly Eve was the first woman Lilith was not real
God Bless You

It is not a fact, it is just something some one made up.
For the story to be true Adam and Lilith would be responsible for the original sin. But the Bible says that Adam and Eve were the first to sin.
The Bible says that this fable is not fact.
