We don't chose our environment, where or how we are born, the people around us, our mind...anything. So how can we have freewill if we did not chose our life? How can we have freewill to make sin if we cannot choose anything else?

You're going to get a lot of the "because GAWD gave it to us" arguments from the Christian camp, so I'm going to save you 10 minutes from reading through the standard parrot apologetics and tautology. (God is all-knowing. If he is all-knowing, and he exists, then everything is part of his plan... and we don't have free will.)

And you're right... we DON'T have free will. We are restricted by our abilities as humans, as well as our moral and ethical fortitude... not to mention the consideration of any consequences of our actions.

We should live, however, as if we do have free will. We should live as if we are well aware that we have choices in any situation, and we know the outcomes of those choices.

Another way to attempt to justify our stupid behaviour.

Of course you have free will. Do you know the definition? You did not to choose to be born, OK did you you choose to not do your homework in school? Did you not choose to buy those cloths? Did you not choose to write that question? Come on.

Not doing your homework in school maybe didn't help you get into the college you wanted and therefore you didn't get as good of a job as you are capable and now don't have the money you want. Cloths, lifestyles, choices.

No one had the choice to be born, but the people you are around and your mindset all came from choices. Even in the worst circumstances why do some still come out on top? Because they CHOOSE to not let those circumstances dictate their life. They choose better.

God Bless

You are born into the environment you chose before incarnating into the physical plane. You chose this environment in order to best learn the lessons needed and to burn the karma created in your previous lifetime. You have the ability to choose each and every one of your actions you take on a daily basis. That's free will.

Because free will has nothing to do with our birth or creation. Certainly, there are many things in our lives we don't get to choose, but all of our reactions are of our choosing whether we act or not; that's what makes us all so different. Maturity, working, having children, etc. will also give you a myriad of more choices and the responisibities that go with them. If you use your intellect and choose well, life can be pretty good.

Of course you have freewill. You choose life already, otherwise you would have been cast out of heaven with the devil and his "angels" and would have been among the 1/3 that choose to follow him, rather than God and God's plan which is to come to earth and get a body, experience life, use your free will for good or evil, then you die, get ressurrected, are judged and live happily ever after.

You are confusing free and all-powerful.
You are in a room with doors and a window. You are free to exit the room, but not through the walls, because a certain structure exists around you. Most people take the door, a few could decide the window suits them better. Or, you could remain there.
Either way, a number of options are available to you. As for your culture and environment, these are more subtle constraints, but I don't believe they are absolute. You can chose to educate yourself, to gain a better understanding of the world. You can use introspection to understand yourself better, etc...
Either way, I don't believe free and determined need to be understood as absolutes.

Free will is a blessing and a curse. God has given all of us the absolute ability to makes choices in life. We have the ability to choose good or evil, right or wrong, self or others. Why did God give us free will then? Wouldn't it have been easier and nicer to create mankind as inherently good. Well, God's purpose with mankind is to have eternal fellowship with those who truly love Him. Therefore, to create us as inherently good robots, without the potential for the opposite character, evil, would not allow for true love. For only love that comes from a free choice of the will is TRUE LOVE. Voluntary choice is the key - love isn't genuine if there's no other option.

we are all given a life, it's to choose how to live it. acceptance of a life is not involved in free will, neither the "choice of what life." we are mere humans and the fact that we both were given a life is enough, but living it is different.

you are who you choose to be, there's no such thing as "i have no choice" coz it's just being afraid of an outcome demo (but), free will does exist. even you as posting a question. you were not forced to do so-weren't u? u did choose to, didn't you?

We dont have the choice where or when we are born, but everything else we do. You are free to leave your family or country any time you want to. You can most definitely change your mind, I do it a few times a day.
