The channel variety can vary from location to location. The local base will usually negotiate a satellite contract with a local provider and they may have a wide variety of channels. Whatever channel is on is decided by whoever is running the facility where the TV is sitting. In some places where there is mulitiple TVs there might be one channel on one TV and a different channel on another. I never saw where there was any "policy" to have TVs set to a particular news channel. My experience is that troops prefered Fox news to CNN or other outlets.

The BBC and CNN was actually banned by a vote on board British ships during the early part of the war. All TVs were officially tuned to Sky News, the British version of Fox News, all because they were sick of hearing the bashing.

It is the only network that doesnt bash the war and the military and president all the time. The troops need encouragement not ridicule.

Because military people and their families want to hear what is really going on, instead of some dramatic misrepresentation of what they are trying to accomplish

becasue FOX news isnt just trying to tell all the bad things. they try to tell some good news. Would you want to watch CNN if all they did was say how bad you are?
