I sometimes get request for guys asking if I have an "internet boyfriend". WTF?!? So I was talking to my friend about it and she says that one of her weird co-workers always talks about his internet relationship he has. Is this normal? I could kinda understand dating personal websites but you eventually go out on a real date. Anyways, why would any socially normal person want "an internet boyfriend/girlfriend"?

Only ugly, weird, desperate people would want an internet bf/gf?? Oh, you can't judge like that. Nowadays more and more people meet their soul mates online and end up in a good marriage. I was one of them. Knowing the person online and yes, you HAVE TO see him/her in person to get to know the person better. That's what you call a relationship in which the people involved are willing to take a further step to become serious. You just need to be very selective and cautious and careful. I don't deny that there are many weirdos online. However, if your intention is just to have an 'online bf/gf' in its literal meaning without wanting to see him/her in person, YES, that's weird! So people, see the difference before judging this issue! You can meet your soul mate anywhere, including online. God can use ANY avenues to bring you together! So don't be so narrrow minded.

No, a socially normal person wouldn't want (or need) an internet boyfriend. Your friends need to get out there and get a real boyfriend. You're right. An internet boyfriend is basically nothing - anyone can fake a friendship or relationship online. It takes real social skills and a personality to get on with real people. Dating from sites and meeting people is okay as you actually have to meet the person, but an internet guy is basically fake.

Because they're ugly and they can't have real relationships? Man that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Maybe you start off on the internet and graduate to actually seeing each other in real life... I hear about that kind of stuff. But just having an internet BF/GF is just weird.

You probably don't want one of those kinds of relationships. It's better to go out and find someone in person rather than online. Why would you get online to talk to someone rather than a real date? The real thing is more fun and exciting anxways. Besides, it's a bigger risk.
