Hopefully you will not have them all your life. At least as time goes by the frequency of the attacks should lessen. I used to take codeine in a small dose the moment I was suspicious my headache was a migraine. It would just make me comfortable enough not to get a tension headache on top of the migraine. I would rub the joint between my thumb and first finger deeply to relieve the nausea. You could see an acupressure expert to help you find a pressure point that works for you. If the headache was truly a blinding experience I would take demerol and just ride it out. After 20 or so years I only have four or five migraines a year and the least harmful drugs I have taken were the opiates. I know your frustration. I hope that you will age out of these headaches. No one can really appreciate the level of pain of a migraine unless they have experienced several over a short period. Peace

i suffer bad migraines and in addition to medicine, i lie in a dark, quite room with a cold ice pack, wrapped in a towel on my head...my sis who was a chiropractic assistant also says to put a small roll pillow under the back of the neck to help with headaches or roll a towel into a log shape...but this doesnt work so much for me....it will take longer to go away on its own with out medicine....also when i get the bad bad migraines, throwing up really helps, gross i know, tell her i hope she feels better soon.

You can try laying down or taking a nap. My sister used to put an ice pack over her eyes. Turn off the lights and keep noise low to nothing. From my experience doing all that and time will make them go away. If they are something that happens to her often then she should see a doctor. My sisters were happening because she needed glasses.

A cold pack on the back of the neck will calm the pounding.

If cold doesn't help use a hot damp hand towel. 30 seconds in the microwave. On the back of the neck and on the face.

Rest in a dark room with eyes covered.

Find a nice quiet dark room, there's a pressure point somewhere on your palm but I'm not exactly where it is. Cool rag on your eyes. Normally stress induced, get a relaxing massage, especially on the neck and shoulders.

i heard if you stretch the back of your neck by letting your chin touch your chest, it works.
just dont stretch it too hard.
let your head hang for a little, and soon you should be getting close to touch your chin to your chest.

idk if it works though. i never het migraines..
but thats what my dance teacher told me.

i am 100% sure this is gonna work!!!! squeeze in between your index finger and your thumb. you might have to fell around, but you have to find a pressure point. hold it for like 10-20 seconds. it works, you jsut have to find the spot. there are nerve endings and stuff in there. trust me it works
