This afternoon, we found 3 stray pups about a mile from our house. We know they were dumped. There are only a couple of houses down the road from where we live and we know what dogs they have. We stopped and picked them up and brought them home. They are such sweet dogs. Not sure what kind, maybe lab/heeler mix, or a bird dog mix. They are mostly black with spots on the legs, lot of white on their chests. We couldn't just leave them there to starve. They were not wild, so it is evident that the people cared for them, and then just dumped them like they did. Now we will vaccinate and worm them, have the vet check them and find them good homes.

I will have to find homes locally for them. We live in Tennessee. I won'yt sell them, just try to recoup what money I will put in them for shots, food, etc.

Some people are heartless or they feel that others will clean up after them, who knows the real reason people do what they do. It was really nobel of your family to do what you guys did and take care of them and find them good homes. Today people don't take the time out (don't get me wrong some people actually do) stop off at the side of the street and pick up stray dogs. It was really sweet of your family and it's good to know that there are some people like your family out there willing to do that. = )

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. I came home to find this dog sitting on my doorstep dirty in cold weather. THe dog seemed like someone took care of her she was netuered, seemed like she had a collar on her, and she was quite friendly other than that she was just dirty. I took her in bathed her and she was apart of my family. After I moved several places I got the idea that she wasn't just a "run away dog" that she knew where she lived. I can tell when I walked her she knew exactly which place was mine and when she ran around off leash she knew which place to go up the steps, and when it thundered outside and she jet off (she was on leash and it slipped) she knew exactly what floor was my floor and what apartment was my apartment. So for her to "show up" at my door step she had to actually ran away, for what reason I don't know (I never seen her before). But some people said the way she was clingy to me and how she loved to recieve affection (and give it in return to me) that she could of been abused or neglected. I know that even though she is now passed away after 2 1/2 years of having her I feel that I'm glad that I made a small difference in her life. That she felt love, warmth, and a good home before she passed away.

Good Luck and Thank you.

They dump them off because they don't have a concience or a heart. How someone can do that to helpless animals is beyond me. Humans have made dogs dependent on them. So, why they would want to dump them and walk away is so upsetting. We get the same problem here where I live. People "assume" you will take care of them, but how many people who do this actually has went back to see if the animal was taken care of???????????? Probably not any!! God bless you for what you are doing for these animals. There should be a special place in heaven for people like you.

We shouldn't presume to know why people "dump" their dogs... So many things can happen in peoples' lives.

At our shelter, dogs come to us for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with their owners being "bad" or "mean" people. Some people get overwhelmed when faced with litters of pups (they think the idea of puppies is great, but are unprepared for how time consuming and expensive puppies can be); some people get into an unforseeable financial bind and can no longer afford to properly care for their animals; some people get sick and can't care for their pets; others are left with the pet of a deceased relative that they cannot care for...

Sometimes, folks "dump" their dogs in public places (where they believe a Good Samaritan will find them) because they're having difficulties but are too embarrassed to ask for help... and they don't want to take them to the pound for fear the animals will be destroyed. They "dump" the animals believing they're giving them a better chance at survival. they're trying to do what they think is right given whatever their current circumstances are. In your circumstance, for example, you can tell that the pups were not abused...

So let's not "judge" if we don't have all the facts.

And we're thankful that you stepped in and became a positive force in the pups' lives. Good for you!

This is unlawful in every state . In Texas These offenders can be fined up to $5000 and 4 Yrs imprisonment.Laws must start and be enforced on the local level. Sadly but true. some Judges are not pet lovers and let these criminals go with a pat on the wrist. The AKC is tough on animal abuse, Upon conviction all Akc rights and Privileges can and usually are canceled for life and stiff fines can fallow.
They can and do find out about all convicted cases. In my county In Dayton, Oh animal abuse laws are stickily enforced. We have three animal facilities and a HUGE dog park and Just completed one of the most modern facility in the nation We receive support From Donations ,the local IMS CO and Purina and a host of Dedicated personnel and volunteers If you are thinking about a pet please check with your local shelter or rescue organizations they make loyal companions and are there with smiling faces and sparkling eyes ,waiting for someone just like you. Don't let them be PUT DOWN. They promise not to ask you for your pedigree if you don't ask for theirs.

People don't care when the dump the animals off. They could take them to a shelter. the animals don't have a chance by being dumped off. No food or water., or get ran over , get parasites & skin diseases, all that will claim their life. If the animals were in a shelter , they might get adopted and get a good home. I love my pets. And I have adopted 3 from the shelter. (1) a mixed chow, (2) a terrier, and (3) a shih-tzu.

Why do people do it...I cannot answer that - but I can say, it makes me madder than heck when folks go out get a puppy and when the puppy starts to grow into a dog, they dump it somewhere counting on someone else to take care of their responsibility because the puppy isn't as small, or cuddly as it used to be.

I have had several rescued dogs because of the same situation you mentioned above.

May God Bless you for taking the time, care and effort into loving the pups enough to care, feed and try and find them a home.

Because they actually believe someone like you will come along and take them in. They always feel this is better than a shelter where they feel the outcome is certain death. People dump kittens and cats because the believe they can survive without food, water or human care.

For everyone like you (and me) who picks up these drop off dogs and cats, hundreds more drive by and leave them to starve and die, get hit by cars and killed by wild animals.

Contact your local humane alliance, you might be able to get help with vet visits, food and adoptions while you foster them.

Wish there were more people like you and less people who dump them!!

the dog l have adopted was dumped off because the people did not have the money to have it fixed or to get vet checks or feeding. And l know now who they are. l gave them every chance to reclaim her until l heard they could not afford her, but she stayed alive by eating whatever she could get.Like Field mice, roots grasses and worms, she drank out of mud puddle or a small stream. It broke my heart. l took her in and had her vet checked, shots and a month later l had her fix. the people try then to get her but l already reported them to the animal control and they could not get her back. She is here to stay and l will never leave a animal in that condition, for if l see another like her, l will take it in also and make sure it has a good home .If not with me, with some one who cares. there are really sick people out there that care less about animals. we call them ' me ' people. cause that is all that maters to them is their selfish self. you are so kind and big hearted and l am glad there are people like you out there. good luck and hope things turn out for the best.

a great form of those canines have been by using quite a few properties and not so great puppy proprietors. they simply desire to make certain that those animals are particularly going to a good consistently homestead. a great form of rescue businesses particularly do homestead visits besides to come back to a sort in the experience that your house is sweet for canine possession. They do this to shrink down on the quantity of puppy returns and to make useful that individuals are particularly prepared to make their properties a secure place for his or her new canine or cat. do no longer take it in my view, they are merely doing it because of the fact they have the pets terrific interest at heart. good success with your new canine. you're doing an exceptionally great ingredient adopting from a rescue business enterprise. Plus those many times make the terrific pets because of the fact they are so appreciative of their hazard to have a kinfolk of their very own. Merry Christmas!

There are so many uncaring people in this world. If they cared at all they would get their dog fixed so it will not have puppies then they would not have to dump them anywhere. They never cared for the poor animals if they dumped them. Thank goodness there are people like you that are willing to take them in and willing to find new CARING homes for the poor things.
