Sounds like you want to reformat your PC and reinstall everything. Because giving you directions here will be short, I would be doing you an injustice and not properly answering your question.

So instead, here is a very useful link that can answer your question:

I recommend you print this list out, unless you have internet access on another computer. If you need help during this install and have access to another computer feel free to contact me directly.

Take Care,
Ken

Grab your Windows XP installation disks (if you bought your computer from DELL and they don't include that in your package, you're going to have to go out and buy it then, sorry). When you reboot your computer, make sure your Windows XP disks are in the cd-rom drive. It will ask you if you want to boot to the CD, press a key to continue. Now, just follow the directions to install windows. When it asks if you want to format or leave the file system intact, select you want to format with the NTSF filing system and let it go. That will wipe everything and put Windows on fresh. Good luck!

Just stick in the Windows CD and run through the installer. It will ask you if it should format the hard drive. Select this option.

However you will loose every file on the computer. All pictures, documents, files, spreadsheets, emails, email addresses, software, etc. Everything will be gone.

If you need to keep any of this you will want to get some blank CDs and burn what you want to keep to CD before you format the machine.

Do you have a restore disk? If so, use that. Otherwise, start up your computer with your XP cd in the drive and go through the installation procedures. When it asks you which hard drive partition you want to put it on, tell it you want to format that partition (NTFS). You will lose everything you had and start off fresh.

what you want to do is to reformat your hard-drive. There's a tutorial here that explains how you get this done. I would suggest, however, before you proceed, to make sure you have the Microsoft Windows Restore CDs.

Here's the tutorial:

Go to your add/remove program, scroll down to your windows xp and remove it, when finished reboot your system, when system is finished rebooting turn off all fire walls and reinstall program again, when finished reinstalling program reboot system again, when system is finished rebooting turn on all fire walls and scan your system, when scan is finished your system should be ready.
