I'm sorry, but I really must point this out - you desperately need to check your spelling. There is no such marque as "Potiac." Instead, there's only "Pontiac." Look for the red, triangular badge with a cutout at the top and a silver star towards the top of the triangle.

To answer your question(s), here goes nothing.

- Question #1 -
Pontiac (we've owned two) is, in my opinion, an average brand at the moment. From the late 1980s to about 2003, Pontiacs could only be had as pseudo-sporty, Front-Wheel Drive sedans and coupes with 4- and 6-Cylinder engines. (This looks to change with the Rear-Wheel Drive, V-8 powered GTO which arrived in 2004 and a new Grand Prix, also Rear-Wheel Drive and V-8, coming in two years). Reliabilty, as listed from Consumer Reports, is generally around average to slightly better than average with the exception of the Pontiac minivans (Trans Sport and Montana), which was horrible. Pontiacs are produced in Canada and the United States under General Motors and share many parts with Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick, and Saturn. The newer Pontiacs also share parts with Opel (from Germany), Toyota (from Japan), and Holden (from Australia).

- Question #2 -
The Geo brand was dropped in 1997 and all of its models were transferred over to the Chevrolet brand. The Chevrolet Metro was last produced in 2001, and had been produced as a Chevrolet since 1998. In reality, the Chevrolet Metro is the same as a Suzuki Swift. The car is reported to be lightweight, nimble, and very good on gas, but is uncomfortable, underpowered, and a deathtrap in an accident, particularly with a larger vehicle. I don't recommend it.

- Question #3 -
Subaru is reliable and all their models have All-Wheel Drive standard. If you're looking for less than 2000 c.c. engines, then you'd have to go with the Impreza model, which comes as a sedan or a hatchback-type wagon. It's nimble, good on gas, but not very big.

Toyota is also very reliable. Their smaller cars include the Corolla, Echo, Prius, Tercel, Paseo, and Yaris. The Corolla is their standard sedan, is compact, nimble, and has decent performance. The Echo was short-lived, uncomfortable, and tiny, but nimble and very reliable. The Prius is a hybrid, with strange notchback styling but excellent gas mileage. The Tercel preceded the Echo, and was tiny and uncomfortable, but otherwise a solid car. The Paseo is the 2-Door version of the Tercel. The Yaris is the replacement for the Echo, and is more of a conventional car available as a sedan or a hatchback and is yet to be of any significance.

Daewoo has left the American market, and left practically no mark while it was here. Reliability is unknown.

Hyundai - Older ones are very unrelaible and crude cars, but newer ones, including the Accent and Elantra, are much better. The Accent is the smaller one, but is considered overall good, reliable transportation. The Elantra is a little more refined and larger, and comes as a sedan or a 4-Door hatchback, but gets slightly less gas mileage.

Kia is the same as Hyundai, just different packaging. The Kia Rio is the same as the Hyundai Accent, and the Kia Spectra is the same as the Hyundai Elantra, but comes as a wagon instead of a 4-Door hatchback.

I hope this has been of some help in your next vehicle purchase. If you would like any more information on any specific model(s), just ask.
