Depends if it is sharp or dull and achy. Depends exactly where. Look up sciatica. Does it radiate down your leg? Do you have trouble standing on your tip toes or lifting your leg straight up from a prone position with out bending you knee? If so see a neurosurgeon. If not lay on your back and hug your knees to your chest. Get on hands and knees and slowly arch and bow your back like a Halloween cat. Do some ab exercises to take the strain off your back.

probably you're mattress. if you naturally have bad backs you should try and get a harder mattress. if you sleep on the floor for the night that might help. but if it is just a once time think you maybe have injured it doing something athletic or doing some heavy lifting. also maybe you should see a cyropracter.

good luck with the back pain!

If you are under a lot stress, this tends to may back pain worse. Another possibly is if you are overweight, you need to start walking or riding a stationary bike, to strengthen your back and also do some back exercises. There are some back exercise vidoes/DVDs available.

it could be from your posture or the way you stand..? my aunt had some back problems and she was partially paralyzed over the summer. it had something to do with her nerves/spine and she is still doing therapy. now her left ear is deaf and the doctor said if she didnt do surgery soon she could stay that way for life. Go see a doctor.

Sounds to me like you're either getting older and/or you have arthritis, have pulled some ligaments or muscles, or you've lifted something too heavy. I have many aches and pains like you describe and I've tried to pin it on one thing but the truth is I've done all of the above and I'm over 50 years of age. If you're getting up there in years, then welcome to the club of aches and pains!

Weak or pulled back muscles? Improperly fitting shoes that causes the pain even when you're not standing?

well......... slipped disk? Pinched nerve? Muscle strain? Could be just about anything. Think back to when it started.... were you lifting or carrying anything when it started? Doesn't seem like it's too hard of a question. Go see your doctor and he/she'll be able to tell you exactly.

weak stomach muscles allow your hip rotate and it can in turn pull your back out. Know how to do proper crunches will tighen your stomach and keep your hips in a neutral position which will prevent back pain.
