Yes. High School People are allmost full fledged adults and many shoulder/share responsibility that many "adults" don't and can't handle. The problem isn't just one item or reason but many . High Schoolers are not 21 and that is the legal age in most places to get into clubs, drink etc. These young adults need the time and place to study , get ready for those colledge exams and placements, think about what they might want to do with thier lives (i.e. continue with higher education, join the armed services and get VA help to go to school later or even apply for an acadamy now, take some time off from school to see the world -- possibly thru a government program like Peace Corps or a church related venture ) .The point here is that running around late at night durring school nights will do nothing but end up most likely getting them introuble with the law or in an accident or worse. Where are unsuppervised young going to go and/or do. They surely don't want some "old fart" watching every thing they say and do but a curfew does help solve and prevent many problems by laying out some very specific guide lines for them . They show their muturity by accepting them and chosing to abide by them . Moms and Dads can relax ( a little ) knowing thier kids won't be out allnight and unable to make it to school because they are to tired ( we won't even go into drinking, accidents, rapes and or pregnancies because these can still occure but do tend to be less of a problem when the high schoolers are NOT out all hours of the night.) Do I think there should be exceptions to a curfew ? YES , for special events and on an individual basis . A curfew should exist Su--Th with reseanable hours set . F & Sa should be later or nonexistant.

There are curfews where I live. 16 and under be off the roads at 9 p.m., 16 and 17 time is 11p.m. unless they are coming home from a job. Can't do much to 18 and over unless they are doing something wrong. Here is you are caught out after curfew and you are not with an adult you go to the juvenile centre for a parent pick up. you get caught and sent there too many times then it is community service and a fine. Yet we have teens here that disrespect their surroundings with alot of taggings and thefts.

Ideally, I think that parents should monitor their own children, and know where they are and set a time for them to be home, even in high school. Teenagers are easily coerced into bad situations without realizing it until it's too late. Now, obviously this can happen at any time of the day, but most teen parties tend to occur at night. The later it is, the more drunk people tend to get. Since many parents are not responsible enough to monitor their children's activities (I see this all the time; I'm a high school teacher) I think that there should be a curfew imposed.

I think there shouldn't be in smaller towns with less people like Burlington, WI where there is curfews that people follow.
But in a big city where there is a lot of people like New York City there should be curfews enforeced, so there is less violence, and vandalism.

My reasons are.
Why do you need curfew in a town where nothing happens?
Why don't you have curfew in a city where the violence, and vandalism count is high??

Yes, a minor has no business being on the street after midnight on a school night. And parents should stop being the neutered mentors they are now and look back at how they were raised.
