Before doing this update:
Ensure you hardware and Software is combatable with XP
If not you'll need to get new stuff...

Run "Disk cleanup" and "defrag" to clean your machine for this process.

Like the others mentioned..hope for the best, plan for the worst. Backup everything you don't want to lose....

Re-boot the machine with the XP disk in......At one point you'll be asked to upgrade, be carefull and read each screen,,, or there could be chance you'll create a dual boot system with both 2kpro and XP...

When upgrade, XP will scan your shortcuts and transfer them over to the XP...

You may have to download some new drivers or re-install some hardware drivers...

After you upgrade... go on line and update XP...depending on your speed this will take the longest time....

Hope this helps

P.S. Are your paying $$$ for this. With Windows Vista coming out soon..maybe just wait and upgrade to Vista

It isn't a lengthy process at all. Put the CD in the optical drive and reboot. Just install over Windows 2000. It'll take about 30 to 35 minutes.

aquire an xp disk and put it in ... follow the prompts to delete ur old partiton then install xp ... its not so lengthy ... most of ur 2000 drivers should work with xp so i would save ur windows folder out to a dvd or external drive for driver reference if u think u myt have trouble locating any of them ...

You should back up everything before a major upgrade like this, just in case, but if it's an XP upgrade CD you should be able to upgrade without uninstalling 2K and without having to reload all your files. I've done it and never had a problem, but you want to be able to replace everything if you do have problems.

you have to have a fast enough processor enough hard drive space and enough memory http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_windows_xp.htm then make sure you get all the updates not just the critical ones and it is a long process
