Mormons teach that their god and Mary had actual sex, which is typical for a pagan religion--little different than "Leto and the Swan." However, God said, "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God" (Luke 1:31-35).
I'm not at all insecure about what I believe. I mean, it's not like you can change it with mud-slinging. But I am curious to know why you bring Zechariah into this. He was the husband of Mary's cousin Elizabeth (Luke 1:36). Oh, tending to Elizabeth? Read the rest of Luke 1. Mary shows up and first thing, Elizabeth knows what's up because HER child all but told her. It was no secret from anyone there. We are told that Mary remained with Elizabeth until she delivered, which would have been in another 3 months. We are not told when Mary told Joseph about Gabriel's visit and message; we only know she didn't return to Nazareth for 3 months. But Joseph could have walked out to see her and she told him then. Yours is an unanswerable question.
Seems as if God feels that He's given you enough information to decide to believe or not. No point in giving you any more if your decision is to not. Ya know?

Zechariah is the husband of Elizabeth, they were the parents of John the Baptizer. Mary and Elizabeth were cousin.
Joseph found out soon, even before Mary went to visit Elizabeth. Matthew 4:18During the time his mother Mary was promised in marriage to Joseph, she was found to be pregnant by holy spirit before they were united. 19 However, Joseph her husband, because he was righteous and did not want to make her a public spectacle, intended to divorce her secretly.
It was the holy spirit at work, no sex involve...and since the holy spirit is God's force it aint impossible. The holy spirit was used by God in creation, Jesus' miracles, helping the apostles preach.

Mary went to visit Elizabeth, her cousin, when Elizabeth was "in her sixth month" of pregnancy. Zechariah was elizabeth's husband. Both were "old and stricken in years". Mary stayed for "about three months". The Bible doesn't say exactly how long she was there or when Mary became pregnant with Jesus but it seems to make sense, in my opinion, that she would have stayed with Elizabeth to witness John the Baptist's birth and then hurry home to Nazareth and Joseph before she began to "show".
And, no, I am not insecure about the Holy Spirit impregnanting Mary. But I do not believe it was an act of "having sex" like your comments suggest.
god bless

sure, i'm nicely conscious of this. To me, the virgin start tale is a metaphor. it is not a historic certainty. Mary became not a virgin whilst she had Jesus. it incredibly is my perception - and it is in keeping with, between different issues, the certainty that the earliest Christian writings (which is composed of biographies of Jesus, at the same time with Mark), comprehend not something of a virgin start. Had Jesus incredibly been born of a virgin, you will possibly think of that they might point out that. you may virtually hint the form of the virgin start tale as you examine in the process the Christian writings in chronological order. the story is going from non-existant, to further and extra tricky. back then, biographies weren't comparable to biographies right this moment. they did not even seek for to be traditionally completely precise. They fairly sought to color a image of the character of the guy being written approximately. They used many techniques to tutor you what that man or woman became like, how the guy might have probable reacted to particular situations, what the guy meant and skill to the community, etc. as a manner to color this portrait, it became consumer-friendly for the biographer to make up a tale that would desire to tutor you the way he considered the priority, and how he feels the priority might desire to be considered with the aid of others. So the virgin start tale tells you something approximately Jesus - even no remember if it is not traditionally precise. It tells you that - a minimum of interior the techniques of the biographers who wrote this - that Jesus is very a distinctive man or woman than something human beings. he's only partly "of this international." he's "from above." His nature, in different words, is to be centred on heavenly issues, not non everlasting, cloth, earthly issues. The virgin start tale has been utilized in many cultures in this same way. It became a commonplace delusion, that, because of the fact it became so nicely-commonplace, became useful. it is like how right this moment, we are saying "So-and-so walks on water." because of the fact the story of Jesus walking on water is so nicely-commonplace, we can use this word to describe somebody who we expect of can do approximately something. No elaboration is mandatory, because of the fact all of us know what that word skill. And so with the virgin start, human beings back then (and now) comprehend what it skill to declare somebody became born of a virgin. It skill that man or woman is dazzling, superhuman, somebody with a particular purpose and venture that's divine in nature.
