I'm 18 and my mom works in an Alzheimer care facility and there has been a bit of a flu of some sort going around the place, which she seemingly brought home, and now I have it.

My problem is I've been vomiting almost constantly. Any time I drink Sprite or cold water, I vomit all of it back up within a short time.

My mom thinks it's just a bad stomach flu, but I'm having such a hard time with it. Is there anything you guys can suggest that I may be able to keep down? Thus far only Jello is working, but that's no drink.

Thanks : )

Jello contains water, so should help you keep hydrated.

Ohhh, sounds like you have a bad bug. Any liquid in any form is good, so don't discount the jello. If the jello is staying down, keeping eating it. Maybe try some ginger ale. Drink it at room temperature and stir it well to get rid of all the bubbles and then only take very small sips, don't chug a whole glass.

My nephew had the bug that is going around and he ended up in the hospital very dehydrated and they gave him 3 bags of fluid until they got him rehydrated. It is a really nasty bug and knocks you for a loop. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Then just stick to what is working for you. For today. And try little sips tomorrow. If it doesn't work, stay on the jello tomorrow too. By the next day you should be able to drink some. Little sips at first. Jello is not a drink, but it is liquidy. So if that is all that's working, get as much of it down as you can. Get well.

plane water is always best but if its not staying down you might get dehydrated and that could be very dangerous, you will feel light headed and dizzy ,you wont pee very much and if you do it will be really dark in colour ,so if you see or feel this and you are still being sick you must get a doctor out to you as i said you could become even sicker very fast ,,,,,,,or phone a chemist up and ask if they have anything you can take to stop the sickness as i know some places to keep things that can help ,either way you need to do something to regain your bodys salts ,,,you must drink the water even if you bring it up again the chances are some will stay in you no matter how small, and it also give you something to bring up ,when there is nothing else left ,,,but you can get medical help over the phone ,ring medicom if its out of hours and they will get a doctor to ring you back ,he will advise you after talking to you as what he feels is best for you to do ,all the best and i hope you feel better soon ,kat

I recently had a stomach virus and had the same problems you did.

Try something like Chamomile Tea or room temp. Ginger Ale.

Avoid Cola or other types of harsh sodas and don't drink anything too cold. Don't drink ANYTHING with caffeine, as this will irritate the lining of your stomach and make you throw up!

Have you tried flat ginger ale or ginger tea, they have the ability to get rid of nausea.
How about an anti-emetic like Gravol
You could make Popsicles out of the jello
Try clear soups like chicken broth
Once the emesis stops make sure you start off with bland foods, bananas, rice, applesauce and dry toast are good.

try gatorade!!! Anytime I haven't been able to keep water or sprite down, gatorade has been the only thing that works. Just keep some by your bedside and sip it often.

Take now as time zero:

0-12hrs: spoon fulls of water
12-24hrs: cups of water/gaterade
24-48hrs: soups and liquid diet
48-72hrs: begin with breads, crackers, and anything else bland

This is the recommended course for the bug.

When I can't hold water or Sprite down, any kind of citrus flavored Gatorade works. I hope you feel better soon.
