My dog has part of a bone stuck under her tongue. Is there anything I can do to try and help relieve some of the pain she is in while she is getting it worked out? Is there anything I can do to help her get it worked out? Please respond ASAP...I am starting to freak out?

Why are you not on your way to a vet?

You need to take her to the vet to get the bone taken out and for the vet to address the wound if there is one. If that bone is stuck under the tongue, and she swallows it it can pose as a health risk. The bone can get stuck in her throat and she can choke on it (I was in the vet ER once when I overheard the receptionist talking about a person who gave their dog a bone and it got caught in their system and she believed the dog was not going to make it, really sad) get caught in your dog's esophagus, might or might not digest properly and if the bone gets digested it can cause more problems.

I know that I'm so freaked out to give my dog any bones, besides the dental ones that dissolve. I gave her a bone once and I didn't even let her finish it, I let her knaw on it for 2 minutes before I saw that it was a health risk. She broke off a piece of the bone and I was freaked out that she could choke on it or get it caught in her system, from that experience I would never ever give her a health bone no matter how many people say "oh I give my dog this type of a bone." I stick to the dental bones that dissolve from the pet store. Good Luck.

Contrary to what we've been lead to believe, dogs should not be given any kind of bones. That said, if you can calm her, see if you can take the bone out. If she gets it loosened, she'll swallow it and that could be another problem. There are emergency vet clinics, but the cost is, well you know.

I really hope that by the time you are reading this that you are back from the vet. And that your dog is ok.
If you haven't been to the vet yet.....then you are wasting your time reading this and get your butt in the car with your poor dog and GO TO THE DOG DOCTOR....NOW!
good luck ...really.

I think you probably should take your dog to the vet. I would not try to take the bone out by yourself, you may injure your dog.

It would be best to get her to a vet and have them remove it. You should not wait for it to "work" out on it's own..not only is it causing pain and discomfort to your dog it could also do damage and cause infection.

If you can't pull it our yourself, then take her to the vet immediately. This could lead to an infection and cost you far more money than a vet visit now will.

Get her to the emergency vet ASAP. If you try to get it out a piece could dislodge and get caught further down her throat. Please call the vet NOW.
