There are many different causes for acne. A dermatologist would be the best option to identify your specific condition, and they can prescribe medication like antibiotics. Although products like proactive are effective for many people because they treat many different causes of acne. So try proactive, or the the generic version that you can get at Wal-Mart.

Hello,

I'm in the same boat as you, maybe. Here is my NEW trick dude and I hope it helps you.

Twice a day, I wash my face with an antibactial soap and let it soak on my face for a minute, then rinse.

Then, I've been using Stidex Day and Night acne cream, but opposite from the packet. I use the Day cream at night and the other way around during the day.

Last, I wait about 1/2 and use hydrocortisone cream too. This prevents drying of the skin. make sure it is cream and not that gell stuff.

This combo has killed a lot of acne, yet I get flare ups because of my work as a cook. This work clogs up my pores and work such as this will hamper healing and not stop acne.

Buffeyes is correct - take oral vitamin A derivatives

These drugs are only available from hospitals, after being refered by your G.P. They are very powerful anti-acne drugs and with them it is possible to control and even cure the most severe forms of acne. They do have side-effects and the N.H.S. tend to restrict their use to the more severe cases of acne.

I had really bad acne for over 20 years, starting from the age of 11. Prescription Vitamin A tablets cured it permanently.

you should try tea tree oil its good you can buy it as a facial wash which you use instead of soap you can also buy it as a blemish stick which is fab because its small and you can take it anywhere with you, i always use tea tree . However if the acne is that bad your GP should be able to give you something for it also try taking vitamins and drink plenty of water

Proactiv is not the best at all, try an acne treatment called ZAPZYT. Its an excellent acne cream cause it contains 10% benzoyle peroxide.

Hope you try it, cause it helped me very much.

Put a moist cloth into the microwave for 20 seconds. Then hold over the pimple. It works wonders.

Start by drinking loads of water. Its obviously not a cure for acne but u'll be amazed at how much your skin will clear when youre properly hydrated.

Pro-active worked for my 13 year old twins. It was tough but they had to get into a routine and stick to it. Also had to keep their hands away from their face and always try to have clean hair. Different things work for different people so I wish you the best of luck.
