It started about a month ago, my mouth became really dry when I wake up in the morning, I have tried to drink plenty of water before I go to bed, but this didn't help. Do anyone know why, any solutions? Thanks for reading!

I have the same problem, but it's because I'm diabetic.

A couple of thoughts. It's the Christmas season and you may be drinking more alcohol before bedtime. This can change the balance in your body and result in a dry mouth when you wake.

Also, I suspect that you put your central heating on for longer/higher temp about a month ago. That dries out the air in your house (it's why we water house plants a little more at this time of year) and so at night your body reacts and compensates as you breath, giving you a dry mouth because it removes the moisture. You could try putting a bowl of water onto a radiator in your bedroom so that it puts moisture into the atmosphere or alternatively turning the radiator off in your bedroom for the afternoon/evening so that the room is cooler when you go to sleep.

Despite what everyone says, be careful not to drink too much water - your body doesn't need gallons and gallons of the stuff and an excess of anything, including something natural like water will bring it's own set of problems.

And I've no idea why an earlier contributor claimed that they have the same problem as you because they're diabetic. So am I (insulin dependant) and I never wake up with a dry mouth unless I've been drinking alcohol the night before.

1. Drink plenty of water evenly throughout the day to ensure constant hydration.

2. DO NOT drink milk before bed. This will stimulate mucus production and is generally not a good idea if you don't want a dry mouth in the morning.

3. Brush your teeth more often.

Try drinking water right before you go to bed as well as during the night (if you get up) and also, if you're sleeping with your mouth open try to close it (hard while you're sleeping I know!). Also, drink water as soon as you get up. I think that this is quite normal for many people as your body is 'deprived' of water for 8 to 12 hours (around this, depending on how long you sleep), so just drink lots of water! (I realise you say you do, but maybe just try and drink more!). Hope this helped! xxx

I actually have that still. >< there is two motives. One, in case you sleep mutually with your mouth open then you truly have a dry throat once you awaken and a pair of, get a humidifier for your mattress room. that's going to likely be all solid in some nights.

Could be several reasons:

Sleep Apnea (sleeping with mouth open, which dries out saliva)

Certain Medications can also dry out your mouth as well.

You can buy a "saliva substitute" which is usually sold at most Pharmacies and may be helpful for you.

Breathing with your mouth open will tend to dry it out. Snoring will also dry it out and give you a sore throat. If your nose and sinus are blocked up...you may be breathing through your mouth to compensate.

If you are taking a new medication it could be making your mouth dry. You also could be breathing through your mouth at night.

you are breathing ,through your mouth while you sleep ;

This could be a sign of sinus blockage
or polyps inside your nose ,
Or even a cold ,irritating and swelling your airway.

try nasal decongestant drops or spray , before sleep

if that does not clear the problem up very quickly
see your Doctor
