Contract with the daughter was:

1. Pass driver's education which she did and:

2. Complete 5000 miles of driving with a parent present. Currently she has only 4300 miles towards the 5000.

School is approximately 6 miles away. She has never been in any trouble and is a very good person.

Should I waive the 700 miles of supervised driving and let her drive to school alone?

She has a driver's license and we have insurance. The vehicle would be a regular sized pickup truck.

Oh man I just had to make a decision on that not to long ago. I say yes unless it is bad weather. Do like I did sneak around and follow her LOL. We gotta trust them sometime. It is really hard to do but if she good girl and hasn't been in trouble or wild (sounds just like my daughter) give her a little freedom. Good luck.

No do not waive the 700 miles. A contract is a contract. If it is the law or required by DOT you can't let her drive alone until she has completed 5,000 miles of supervised driving. She is probably a very responsible person.

I think you should because she is getting older if you keep driving her she will feel embarrassed and she wants to feel more grown up trust her if you really love your daughter let her drive show her that if she wants this she needs to show responsibility and be the grown up she feels and thinks she is so i definitely say that you let her drive to school alone

She sounds like a good kid, so maybe you could let her go ahead and drive. Maybe take her to a mall parking lot when its busy to see how she handles the crowded conditions first, mainly to calm you down, because we parents can be a nervous bunch.

If she is responsible, YES. I was a driving instructor by the time I was 17, got my license at 15.

If she needs the extra supervised time with an adult, by law, then she should not drive to school alone. If however that was your rule then if you feel she is ready then there is no problem.

Yes, she'd appreciate it. And, it'd show that you trust her (which i'm assuming you do even though yr asking opinions) But, it seems like she's done good to prove to you she is trustworthy so reward her by letting her drive to school alone. Good luck and Happy Birthday to her! ♥

Sounds like she is responsible, let her go by herself she may be embarrassed if she is still escorted to school and embarrassment is a big thing for teenagers.
