There have been rumors going around that some pharmacy as well as online pharmacy has been recieiving and selling fake prescription medication. Is there any sources or ways to check or test your medication for authenticity? And what procedures for reporting it if your medication is not what it suppose to be?

Asking for a license (which is required to be conspicuously posted) does nothing to ensure the integrity of the medicines you are buying. All Pharmacies are licensed. Nobody would be so brazen to open up without it. Besides they cannot receive medications from wholesalers without a license.
Ask them which wholesalers they use. National wholeslaers maintain a pedigree on every lot of medication they receive. That guarantees that you aren't getting counterfeit medicines.
Where Pharmacies get into trouble is when alternative 'wholesalers' make unsolicited calls offering deep discounts on popular brands. Many times they are selling counterfeit drugs.

If you're actually going into the pharmacy and picking up your prescription, ask to see their state board of pharmacy license. If they're licensed, they should be safe, but if you're still concerned, ask your doctor where in your area you can take it to get it checked. Same if you're buying online with a prescription. If you're buying online without a prescription, you may not have much recourse. If you do discover that a local pharmacy is selling fake meds, go to your police department. You can also report such matters via http://www.dea.gov. Hope this helps!
