well contrary to what the gentlemen above me said. the New Process transfer cases do in fact use Dexron 3 ATF fluid.

Transfer Case Uses Dexron III
Differentials use 80 or 90Wt. Gear Oil
As for the 4X4 not engaging is you transfercase electronic shift or manual shift. If its electronic then its possible that your electric actuator motor is about to go out. If its manual shift it could be due to the gears in the transfer case not being meshed. Try moving the vehicle about 2-3MPH and then engage the 4WD.

Dodge has not used dexron in more than 20 years. Use Mopar ATF Plus or any brand ATF+4 in the transfer case, same as used in automatic transmissions. The differential can use 85-140 EP gear lube.
Check the shift motor on the right front axle to see if it is getting vacuum to shift the front into drive..

With the magnum V-10 you are able to anticipate 8-thirteen city and 11-14 highyway, that's after all a 10,000 lb truck. with the Cummings rapid diesel you are able to anticipate 9-thirteen city, and 12-17 highway. in case you get the diesel then get it to banks engineering. they did mine with a Banks torque converter, and it have been given 17.9 mpg consistently.
