it could have been a roman, and they kept the identity a secret.

No, virginity is based on the girl's status as never having had sex, not on the fertility of the male.
Isaiah 7:14
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel."
Luke 1:26-27
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
Words have meaning, and virgin means virgin, not anything else you happen to want it to mean.

mary couldn't have possibly been a virgin- how else would jesus come to be? (no, god did not put him in her- that is stupid and an old excuse, if u teach that teenage girls will go around saying "But daddy i didn't have sex! i am a virgin! God put this baby in me!" see the downfall of that?) So obviously Joseph and Mary did it and here came jesus who was a nice guy but was a wignut to think there was god or that he was his "son"

Yeah, it might have been the only time in history that a woman had a husband gullible enough to believe that the baby wasn't his, it was Gods.
