Ideal, in fact the only way to cook a pizza.

I've never heard of that, but why would you want to do it? A 12 inch by 12 inch granite tile costs $20 to $25.
One of your answers suggests a stone, and I agree with that. But I don't like the cost of pizza stones. Just go to a building supply store, and ask for quarry tile. You should be able to get one for under $2.

It should work, I've had steak on a hot block of granite where it's warm for at least an hour and you cook it yourself and that was the second best steak I've ever had!!

We have a pizza "stone" that helps keep the crust crisp, but it's not granite.

you would be better off using either a pizza stone or a large 12" x 12" unglazed terracotta tile. learned that from world pizza toss champion Tony Gemignani.

I hve never heard of doing that. When I make it, I use a pizza pan. I think you can get one anywhere, like bed bath and beyond maybe
