I actually want to do it. I've planned about 12 weddings and they all turned out pretty good not to mention I did alot of the dresses myself. Including designing, sewing and alterations. I really just want to get into the wedding business.

I am starting a wedding planning business and its not easy if you are thinking easy job there is a reason the term Bridezilla strikes fear in the heart of most people. I will suggest you get a little education on different religions and customs this is not necessary but, if you are planning a wedding for different cultures or religions it is a whole new game plan. This is education so it is tax deductible. I have also planned a few weddings already and it can pay a lot but most of the time it is a percentage of the budget some people charge per hour if its just a little help. I would suggest a package price. Be willing to lower your price for the first little while in order to start a portfolio. Good Luck!

I have been a professional wedding planner for 7 years in the midwest. If you think this is a glamorous job, think again! It's a lot of hard physical labor and being on your feet for hours and hours and working anywhere from 14 to 18 hours on the wedding day. One particularly large wedding, I worked 24 hours straight and my crew worked 17! Do I like it? I LOVE it!! Before this, I spent over 20 years in insurance claims specializing in severe auto accident injury claims and claim litigation. The pay was a lot better in that profession but this one is far more satisifying. I get to be creative and I have the honor of working with brides to help them during one of the most important periods in their lives. It's the only job in the world in which you get hugged by your client and told how much they love you. Who wouldn't want that kind of a job? I spent a year researching my area and obtained formal training from Assoc. of Bridal Consultants before I opened my business. I also had years of experience designing and creating formalwear, wedding cakes and wedding flowers beforehand. I also attend annual international event planners' conferences and trade shows--I leave for a week in L.A. on Monday, as a matter of fact--to keep in step with design trends, resources and updated business practices.
