I am of legal age and about to have a body checkup and I AM currently taking birth control pills. My parents will kill me if they know that I am taking birth control pills.

I am going to have a checkup by blood/poop/pee. Is it going to show in my blood results? WILL THE DOCTOR MENTION it when giving me the results? I cannot let my parents find out.
(( my parents will be in the room with me when the doctors tell me the results of my checkup! So i was just wondering will they mention it..or it will be irrelevant to my health therefore he won't refer to it?))

Listen, if you are 18 or over, legally speaking the doctor cannot give anyone any type of medical info about you b/c of HIPAA unless you give written consent. Also, there is no way that BCP's can be detected from any lab tests unless they know to test for it. These types of tests are very expensive and are not done in for regular checkups. They may question you if your estrogen/progestin levels are high, but remember that these are only screening tests and may only suggest that you are on BCP's. If this is like a routine physical, then all they are going to check are your electrolytes, liver enzymes, kidney function if you are otherwise healthy. On the other hand, it is extremely important to let your MD know that you are on BCP's and anything else you are taking b/c what if you get sick and need an antibiotic and he prescribes one that could reduce the effectiveness of your birth control pills and you end up getting pregnant? Most doctors are sympathetic to underage females on BCP's that don't want their parents to know. Also, BCP's can make you predisposed to getting blood clots which could potentially be life-threatening... this risk is increased if you are a smoker too... hope this helps.

First of all you are of legal age and there is no way you have to have parents in there when you see a doctor. There is such a thing as patients privacy and patent's rights . He cannot tell anything if you don't allow it .
Secondly, unless you metion it, there is no way to tell by an examination when you take birth control pills . Did you make out a medical questionair ahead of time ? Maybe you did but even then he mentions it only if he finds for some reason it could be bad for you . Play it safe and for heavens sake keep your parents out of there. It is none of their business .

If it is at all possible, pull the doc or a nurse aside and let them know that you are on it and your parents can not know. That way, they'll put a note in their records and not mention anything in front of the parents. Doctors are required to respect your confidentially wishes. If you've already gone in for the tests, call the office and ask that they make a note in your records.

Taking birth controll pills will create an artificial sense of being pregnant, so yes. Most health care proffesionals aren't judgemental and as long as your well being is assured, they're happy.

I don't know the answer to your question but if checkups can detect if you are pregnant they will detect unusual hormone balances. However, I think that your parents might be less disapproving than you think. Some day their little girl has to grow up so they must be expecting it one day.

Your parents shouldn't be mad. If your having sex, at least your on birth control. Wouldn't you think they would be more pissed if you weren't? Just tell the doctor during your exam that your on birth control and you'd rather your parents not knowing.
