A trim use to mean just to clip the ends enough to remove split ends. However, a lot of places charge the same price for a trim as they would for a normal hair cut which requires the cutting off of major hair and shaping.

A trim on normal healthy hair is usually about a half inch. If your hair has a lot of split or frizzy ends then your stylist may recommend that you "trim" off all those nasty little split ends. Basically we refer to a trim and cleaning up the split ends without changing the style or drastically changing the length of the hair. I've worked as a hairstylist for over 12 years and you'd be surprised by how many people asked me this question...don't feel bad you are not alone.

No question is stupid if you need the info.
A trim means to get about an each or two off. Makes your hair look nicer and helps get rid of split ends.
You could always call and ask a hairdresser or go to your own if you have one.
Most places charge less for a trim only. good luck

If you are going to a salon to get a trim it is usally (depending on the salon) Just the very ends getting cut off. They will not cut layers or anything like that because then you've moved into the hair-cut price. It's the same as (if you have bangs) when you just cut the tips off because they start to go into your eyes. Hope this helps!

cutting your hair enough to where it looks healthy and will grow better. typically 1 - 3 inches to get off damaged ends. it will make your original hair cut come back to life.
