This feels like one of those multiple choice questios in HS. C) neither.
Luther said the Bible holds the Word of God as the manger held the Christ Child. I am pretty sure the manger, stone or wood, had dings and slivers. The Bible is no different. There are more than enough errors to go around - and understandably if you want to do the history. So OPTION A is out.
Propaganda for mind control - hm. This suggests free will which only faith systems propound. Science can't touch this. So mind control is out - science cannot even produce it, witness the resistance to Hitler and the world's greatest (oops 2nd - almost forgot Madison Ave.) propaganda machine. So OPTION B is out.
i read it twice a year. Strangely enough, you are correct in B, though for the wrong reason. I am convinced God loves me, creation is good, and I should treat you with the respect I would like to receive from you.

Definately "Mind Control" as are all religions. The Bible is a book of books written by man, I should say many men, thousands of years ago. Stories copied onto scrolls from ancient tablets, what they couldnt decifer they made up. Then it has been re-written and changed by different religions of the centuries to suit their needs, if there is a God and he wanted us to have a book of books I;m sure he has the power to send us all one. Believe in yourself thats the best way, be kind and peacfull, I mean even in the bible it says Jesus was a simple man with no needs, today we have preists and people standing up on gold covered buildings, driving in Mercedes cars making millions in the name of God, its a joke!! If Jesus was alive today and saw what these Churches are doing he would be disgusted. So yeah, its all propaganda for mind control to make others rich. Remember the Barnam Quote " Theirs a Sucker born every minute"

The bible is actually 66 books, written over many centuries. some of it is actual historical accounts of what happened, some of it is poetry and songs, some of it is rules and regulations of the religion, some of it is prophetic (ie messages from God) and some of it is letters written to particular churches giving advice etc.
Overall it contains Truth - and was not written as propaganda for mind control, any more than any other books were written for mind control.

It's neither. Study religion to understand how these things work and you will come to understand that it's not some kind of a conspiracy but worse... it's an economic issue.
When there are times of war, people tend to cling to something that gives them a false sense of security which causes regression and hysteria. Any religion that tells people to make a fear based decision, such as believe in this or you are going to hell will become a flock of sheeple who are easily lead... even if it's not good for them.
When there is more stability within a society, they tend to embrace great thinking and understanding which contributes to progression. When you die, there is just black... nothing... you don't stand in any lines, you don't wait to walk through some pearly gate... there's nothing, man. Nothing.
That's why people are so afraid and will grasp at anything to believe that there has to be something.

Selected stories of an age, with all the bad bits sanitised just like a history book would be to reflect a particualr event as being a good, or bad, deed by an individual (depending on who is writing the history book, friend or foe).
The bible is fiction telling good fables. Any other interpretation is utter crap.

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.
There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are errors.
Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.
If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.
We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.
WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.
The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!
Scriptural typology is:
A biblical person, thing, action, or event that foreshadows new truths, new actions, or new events. In the Old Testament, Melchizedech and Jonah are types of Jesus Christ. A likeness must exist between the type and the archetype, but the latter is always greater. Both are independent of each other. God’s call for the return of the Israelites from Pharaoh’s bondage typifies the return of Jesus Christ from his flight into Egypt. In the New Testament the destruction of Jerusalem, foretold by Christ, was the antitype of the end of the world
Adam & Eve’s sin is repaired by the righteousness of the new Adam and Eve in Jesus and Mary. Adam and Eve caused the downfall of man, Jesus and Mary the redemption of man.
Genesis 3:15
Romans 5:12-21
Isaac carrying the wood is like Jesus carrying the Cross.
Genesis 22:6
Abraham sacrificing his son is like the Heavenly Father offering up his Son Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.
Moses is like Jesus, a prophet, to liberate the people. Moses freed them from Pharaoh while Jesus frees us from the sin and death so we may enter Heaven.
Deut 18:15
In these pictures God the “I AM” and Jesus the “I AM” at the Transfiguration with Moses and Elijah.
John 8:58 and Exodus 3:14
The shedding of Abel’s blood is like the shedding of Christ’s blood.
Hebrews 12:24
Genesis 4:10
Also the bronze snake is like Jesus “raised up” to save the people.
Numbers 21:9 and John 3:14 and 6:40
The bread of the Passover is like the “Bread of Life” (Jesus) in the eucharist.
1 Cor 5:7 and Ex 12:5
The sacrificial lamb of the Passover is like the “Lamb of God” that John the Baptist talked about when he saw Jesus.
The manna (Bread of the angel’s) is like the Eucharistic bread Jesus Christ gives us to nourish and purify our souls.
John 6:32-35
There are numerous scriptural references and documented miracles in dozens of books to validate the faith in the Blessed Sacrament.
Exodus 16:4, 15
Joseph (of the OT) being sold by his brothers for silver is like Judas betraying Jesus for Silver.
Jonah’s release from the mouth of the whale after 3 days is like Jesus resurrection from the jaws of death after 3 days in the tomb.
Matthew 12:40
Also, Mary the Mother of God is a scriptural type of the Ark of the Covenant.
I hope people look into this and discover the awesome truths of the Christian faith.
