My parrot seems to itch herself when out of the cage. I dont know if she is cleaning herself or if she has bugs. HELP

If she starts at the base of her feather, and works it out to the end she is preening, should be pretty obvious, and she will do one feather at a time---This will be mixed with bouts of head scratching with her feet(one at a time), because she can't reach her head with her beak. My amazon will nibble on my neck, very gently, then lay his head down on my shoulder, when he wants me to do his head for him, which is what their mate does for them in the wild!!! Birdman

Take a closer look. If he skin is red, there are bald spots, then there may be a problem. Let your bird bathe at least once a week. You can put one inch of warm water in a sink and splash the water with your fingers to teach the bird to enjoy her bath. This promotes good feather and skin health. Have a great year.

Well if she seems to be doing it normally over her body it is normal grooming, if she seems to peck at one spot only till the feathers are gone, somthing is wrong.
