I am a babysitter. I feel you should pay anywhere from $8-$12 dollars an hour, depending where you live and also how much you can afford. For me the kids are disrespectful and the parents don't discipline the kids at all. So in cases like these I feel the pay should be a little more. But over all what you can afford would be the best solution.

I'd say at least $100 a week that's $5 an hour and the sitter is having to help with home work I'm sure and making snacks or meals that's fair to pay at least $5 an hour if your extremly happy with the sitter then bump it up to $6

Depends on how much you expect from the sitter. Is she just there to hang with the kids and make sure they don't burn down the house? Then $5 an hour is fine. Is she expected to cook or heat up dinner and give it to them? That's worth at least another $2. Are you going to expect her to clean up? Tack on another $1 if it's just loading the dishwasher after dinner, $3 if you want her to vaccuum or something like that. (I'd also pay more if the sitter is out of high school age.)

Depends on how old the sitter is. College and up is around $10. Anything younger 8. Under 14, $6.

If the babysitter is under 18 years of age I would give them 40 dollars a week. If the babysitter is 18 years of age or older I would give them 50 or 60 dollars a week.

my next door naighbour gives me $20 for a couple hours while her and her husband go 2 the pub for a drink and a bet on a saturday. i dont mind this as he entertains my lil daughter she just follows the poor boy everywhere :s.
but over night she gives me $30 and still asks if thats allright but i would probably pay 5-8 a hour if i left my daughter with a babysitter just to be fair :)

You mean how much should you pay, she's charging YOU!
Anyway, I'd say 8 bucks an hour is fair. Minimum wage, or better....but try to do better if you have it.
give her a bit more every now and then and apologize when you only give her the bear minimum.
(please don't have anyone 14 or younger babysitting your kids, and preferably, don't have boys babysit.)
