You would actually be suprised to know how many military personnel are not really into politics and many of them are not even registered voters, since many of them are very young and barely old enough to vote anyway. A good majority of the military votes are by older soldiers and are cast in accordance with their upbringing. Many of the poor minorities who joined the military vote Democrat and some rural christian farmboys vote Republican. I think it has more to do with family and upbringing than career. National defense and public service is something any political party can get behind.

Many military personnel who vote are not so base as to only vote a straight party ticket. Many soldiers get down to veterans and servicemember related issues and then decide who cares more about the troops before they hand out their vote. It might have to do with the fact that many military personnel are keenly aware of what a privilege it is to vote since they fight for it and are not going to waste it only voting for just any Republican.

Many of the recent congressional elections had a whole slew of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans running as Democrats (Tammy Duckworth in Illinois and many others who happen to be against the war). Even Gen. Wesley Clarke ran for president against Bush as a Democrat in 2004. When I was in Iraq I had to help train the NJ National Guard and I didn't meet one person in that unit who wasn't an outspoken Democrat! I even had people in my unit who voted for Nader!!! My old roommate in Kosovo is a Poli Sci major and a big Democrat in Alabama!

I would say it's about half and half, maybe a few more in the Republican camp. Of the 535 Congressmen, only 74 have served. 44 of them were Republicans and 30 were Democrats. However, in the November election, only Democrats elected people with military experiance. No new Republican congressman have any military experiance.

Hey the question is good the answers are?

http://www.armytimes.com/

Go read what the Army and military are saying.

Today less tha 50% say they are "Republician: 46%
so that is the answer to your question, add in the one who served in the war but have left the militray: well it is 30%.

Not my words but Army, Navy, USMC, etc Times!

But your question is not about the article, the poll of active duty and such: US Troops are "Sour" on this war.

I am so weary of all the jerks posting about suport when men are going on their 3rd and fourth deployments.

Yes, to a few: the Army Times still runs the photos of those lost in battle, yes "we" always will. Hey sort of a "yearbook" for many.

Yes, the troops do not actually like the media: who does?

But it was my obligation to show all the URL and the latest.

That's a good question, but most people who join the military are too young to really know or care about the difference between Republican and Democrat. Also, a lot of minorities join the military, and minorities are not known for being Republican.

Commisioned officers are different in that they have a bachelors degree, so they have a better understanding of politics. I would think that most officers are Republican because Democrats are generally anti-war.

What does it matter what party they are affilitated with? It should just be about a love of our country that makes them serve in the military.

92 to 96% of all military vote Republican.
That's why Gore sued to stop counting military votes in FL.
Where the 4 to 8% Democrats come from, I don't know.
I've never known a Democrat to volunteer for military duty. I suppose a few do. But many Democrats despise the military. (Democrat Politicians, at least.)

properly i'm going to ask a question to respond to your question. are you able to assist abortion rights, with out the two having an abortion or in my opinion helping somebody get an abortion ? are you able to assist bigger tax's to fund extra social classes, whilst no longer voluntarily paying bigger tax's your self ? are you able to assist the palestinians, with out going to the westbank or gaza and helping them ? are you able to assist extra police, with out turning out to be a member of the police rigidity your self ? are you able to assist extra instructors, with out turning out to be a instructor your self ? of direction you could. helping using the U. S. militia someplace, isn't any distinctive. And the final time I checked, the militia grew to become into assembly it is annual recruiting aims, so it is different from all individual who helps the conflict in Iraq, would desire to bypass down and enlist tommorow. Congress determines the dimensions of the militia, the Air rigidity is turning human beings away in droves top now. A draft would not forestall distinctive excursions in Iraq, maximum squaddies in uncomplicated terms serve one deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan throughout their first enlistment, Marines will serve 2 7 month excursions. the warriors serving distinctive excursions, are people who've reenlisted interior the army. So in spite of a sparkling batch of recruits, they could nevertheless serve distinctive excursions, because of the fact they may be the NCO's of the hot recruits. fifty 3% of the Air rigidity 50% of the army fifty 3% of the Marines 37% of the army Have on no account deployed to the two Iraq or Afghanistan. slightly examine exhibits merely how stupid this question extremely is. how many Democrats that choose the U. S. to intervene in Darfur, have went and enlisted interior the militia to assist the belief human beings intervention there ? i'm going to tell you the respond, none in any respect. via your rhetoric, you're able to would desire to anticipate, that a hundred% of the militia individuals who've enlisted because of the fact that March 2003, all help the U. S. efforts in Iraq. yet all of us understand that's no longer genuine. attempting to simplfy the justifications a individual makes a decision to enlist interior the U. S. militia all the way down to assist of, or non help of contemporary US coverage is a mistake. Partisan rhetoric over the status human beings militia individuals, does a disservice to all of them !!!!!!!!
