I'm not Canadian, but please allow me to disagree with that last post about a child needing both a mother and father. One of the best adjusted kids I know was raised by lesbians, one of whom was his biological mother. (his biological father was useless as a parent). He is funny, highly intelligent, and almost qualified to go to the Olympics as a swimmer. He graduated with honors and a degree in law. I'd say he did a hell of a lot better than a lot of kids with a mother and a father--and he's no exception. That whole "needs a mother and father" thing is beyond mythology and right into the realm of fantasy. Maybe some people should try a little thing called "reality" for a change.

You're puzzling me, J's M. I thought you were quite certain of the rightness of your views. But you've just let in some real doubt.... .... because of course having gay people adopting children is not making 'good Catholic orphanages close', you must know full fine that there haven't been Sodom and Gomorrah type disasters recently, and no, gay people haven't been burning down churches. And I'm sure you already know all this, which makes your question one which appears far more like from someone taking the mickey out of the views with which your name is associated. Perhaps you're a clever clone of the original J's M. Yes, I think that must be the answer.

Gay marriages threaten the family unit which is the best way for raising a child. Surely nobody would disagree that the best for every child is a mother and a father.

I remember when they said that entrenching same-sex marriage rights in the Canadian constitution would "ruin the country".
Still waiting for that "ruin to happen". In the meantime, the same-sex marriage industry is booming here. Literally, thousands of same-sex couples come here to get married. Especially if they come from backwards countries that don't give them the same human rights as everyone else deserves...

The next time Canada is struck with a major terrorist attack, Pat Roberston knows who to blame!

Actually since Canada is more liberal than the USA but never gets terrorist attacks ... hmmm... maybe terrorist attacks have more to do with "something else" other than gays...?

I am Canadian, and fully in favour of gay marriage. It doesn't make me a victim in any way.
