Is there anyway possible for him to get a passport even though he is deployed? We want to take a vacation during his R&R, and we want to be able to go to the Caribbean.

We are not going to spend $3,000+ on a trip to the Caribbean unless we have a passport in our hands.

Hey mister, he is going from Iraq to Texas. Then we want to go from Texas to Caribbean. The US Passport website states: "Members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty traveling on orders will continue to be exempt from the passport requirement." Sorry but going from Texas to the Caribbean for a vacation is not military orders!!!!!!!!!

United States Embassy, Bhagdad. actually probably doesn't need a passport if he has US military ID. if he does, they do have cameras in Iraq. Bhagdad is a city, several places in town to get passport photos.

btw. have you asked where HE wants to go?

"Army Family" here:

gads!

The issue about Passports is always "fun".

I will perhaps be able to get you the latest info, do try www.cruisecritic.com and post, many military familes use this as the primary resource.

Me and the "Sgt Major" (My Mrs) cruise about twice a year, retired Army, it is "simple" his unit's command likely has a policy.

However and whatever you can perhaps arrange an expedited passport via the mail, sometimes "Express", but cruise critic's graet website can help with the correct process.

Needless to say, the answers here are interesting.

Yes, Caribbean travel really now as most cruise lines tell us: get a Passport. The "ICE" agents on the ships, ports know a military ID and most are also vets.

Be sure and ask at cruisecritic about "military discounts" Active Duty, some available via the cruise lines, some via on Base/Post
travel offices.

If you use the same screen name perhaps I will locate you when you join the message boards.

I avoid the situation getting a passport "downrange", as it differs and in some units: no troops allowed even to have one with them, whatever: the photos can be accomplished. Then you can do the paperwork, if there is time.

JoeDoc

I also am on a few military family "only" boards, one is the Army's or ? you should get on one of these!

?? If the cruise line states you are required to have a Passport, you are: the military ID is not ment for vacations, sorry, and yes,
it is the one item all are taught to "deep six" if terrorists are around. But as if the haircut does not say" military?

As a wife of a husband that served our country, I am very disappointed that this was a question. To simply put it, HELL NO. First, your husband is fighting for every freedom you have as a citizen of the United States. He faces danger seen and unseen. You have to idea or sympathy what he's going through. Not only, is he under attack physically, but also mentally. My husband now has PTSD. I even think that you considering cheating is HEARTLESS! Apparently, your marriage vows didn't mean very much to you or did they? It's not about whether he finds out. It's about doing what's right. You are the only person that have to live with you. May God keep our soldiers!

Military personnel are not required to have a passport. Their military ID is their passport. During my travels in the military, whether depolyed, or on my own, I used my military ID entering and leaving countries, and never had a problem.

It is advised to get on though, and to use that instead of the ID, as a military ID makes you a target for anyone who doesn't like the US military. But, he can use his military ID if he wants to.

As long as he is still on active duty his Military ID can be used as a passport. He'll just need to have copies of this leave approval with him as well.

Just go to the post office, get the applications, and fill them out yourself. When he gets home he can go take the passport photos.

i hate to admit this honey, but gazza up there is correct, you can sort it with the admin at the barracks!

Have you considered he may not have told you he has a passport?

I needed one also, or I got a I.D. card (military) which helped with travel! As Gazza said!
