What is a SD card plus USB flash drive?

I am buying a new digital camera and of course, plan to buy SD cards. This particular SD had this flash drive thingy that I don't know if it is nessesary or not and also is it reusable? Is an SD card reusable?

I get a little nervous when I see that you are going to purchase SD card(s), when you don't know what a card reader is.

First of all, the SD card is reuseable.

Second, that flash drive thingie is a card reader. It plugs into a USP port, and allows you to plug the SD card into it, and from there you can download the images or video into your computer.

Now, the question I have, do you know the maximum size SD card this new camera will recognnize?

If this is a new camera, chances are it will handle at least a 1gig card. Belive me, you won't need more than one of those.

I have a 5 megapixel Kodak, and on the highest setting (5 megapixel) I stored 225 jpegs along with 25 minutes of video, and I still had room on the card.

I would suggest you get that one card, and put the extra money toward an additional battery, charger, and carrrying bag.

A USB flash drive can be used to store data. You plug it into your USB port and can transfer files to it. It is not necessary for your digital camera usage. If it is a card reader like the previous answer, then you can use it to transfer files from your SD card to the computer. Read the package b4 you buy.

You take photos on the SD card. You transfer them to your computer. Once transferred, you erase the card and reuse it.

o...thats an SD card reader. You put the SD memory card in the reader, and plug it into the usb drive, so you can access the files easier. Its easier than plugging in a camcorder and risking it falling and breaking.
