I got her from a pet shop about 6 months ago. She would rather play with humans than other puppies. I usually get her around other Yorkies around her age, but she is still scared. Is there anything that I can do to make her less afraid?

You can arrange playdates with other friendly dogs, and don't force any interaction, but allow them to try to work it out to make friends. Training classes, are a good place to get your dog used to other dogs, that are kept under control.
You could also meet with your local kennel club, for dog play days, and just be a spectator until she warms up a bit. those people know how to bring a dog out of its shell.
If you would like to know your local clubs, just email me, or check at your local pet supply shops, as they usually have the info.

There isn't anything you can do to change this really and truely. Your best bet would be to put her around the other yorkies more often. She just has to get used to other dogs. Once she sees them playing around and she starts to feel safe and knows that the other dogs aren't out to hurt her, she'll begin to loosen up. Don't expect too much from her though the first couple of times.... she should come around eventually.

If she doesn't then it just means that she needs to be in a one-dog house. And that isn't a really big deal unless you want another dog. And if you do get another, make sure you get it as a puppy. That way your current doggy is less likely to be scared. I hope this helps. =)

It is important for dogs to socialize with other dogs just like people. If you have a dog park near you try taking her there to hang out. If not just keep taking her around the other Yorkies, eventually she should become less timid around them.

Have you ever heard of the Dog Whisperer? I'm sure he has worked with a dog like yours.

Some puppies are just that way. I would watch the dogwisperer.
There is also a book about that.

think back of an experience she had with another dog that might never want her to be near a dog again then once you figure it out again SLOWLY but surly introduce it to her

Either take it to the park and let it socialize or keep it in your purse
