With time.
When I lost my boyfriend, I felt broken hearted for months. After a few weeks of being depressed and crying every so often, I felt like I was over it. Then I would start crying randomly, even if I had not been thinking of him. Sometimes things just remind you, even if it isn't done consciously. It will be hard if it truly is a broken heart, and it depends on how long you were together.
You should try to find things to do, besides feeling bad. Be with your friends, try crafts, writing, reading, etc. Sports are good to boost your mood.
We broke up in August, and I was upset up until our anniversary in December 2005, and then about a month or two after that. Then I just seemed to get over it.
We were only together for 2 years, but it had a big impact..
Feel better, and make sure you try to be optimistic.

Date someone new. Its one of the ways I have learned to heal. Surround yourself with friends and family.
