Being openminded means being able to listen to what other people have to say and give it serious consideration, even if you don't agree with it. It doesn't mean you have to agree, just that you are open to considering possibilities other than the one you believe. It means respecting and valuing views and beliefs that are different from your own.

When I am feeling good about the idea, I say it is a willingness to listen and consider a variety of points of view. When I am feeling bad about it, I call it being wishy-washy, or lacking conviction.

But then, most adjectives describing personality traits can be paired like that. Your gender loyalty is my sexism. Your tenacity is my stubbornness. And so it goes.

It means you accept all kinds of things into your mind. And then so much stuff comes in that you get confused. Most openminded people are confused, whereas most closedminded people know exactly what they believe, only their beliefs are false.
The human condition is truly lame, and it runs the whole gamut from confusion to ignorance.
