We are taking a cruise out of the New Orleans Port next week and we will be staying only a night or 2 in the city.
We have a hotel near the ports, French Quarter, Convention Center/Warehouse District. Is that a safe place? Where do we NOT want to be...

THANKS for any help you can give me.

Well if you have kids dont let them out in the French Quater at night or Burbon street these places are fine at night but have you ever heard the sayin ''the freaks come out at night'' well its sort of true theirs hookers and dont wanna know what else theirs also lots and lots of bars and night clubs on those two areas ........well its not horrible if you are an adult but hear it from as a tween who grew up in new orleans its not really nothin too see at night.
p.s go take a horse and carrige ride and also go up and down canal street on a street car i think the admissions free since hurricane katrina.......
HAVE FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN HOPE YOU LOVE NOLA AS MUCH AS ME.....

Stay in the French Quarter, Convention Center and downtown areas, you will be fine.

For an interesting diversion, take the St. Charles Streetcar. A fun trip. You may also want to check out the Aquarium.

Hope the Weather is nice for your trip.

Based on my coding of this year's newspapers on events in New Orleans I would avoid the 9th ward and mid-town. The French Quarter is built back up and is fairly safe.

I haven't been since Katrina, but the French Quarter was probably the safest area then. From reading the news, I would advise against going ANYWHERE at night in NO now. Drive around and enjoy the sights during the day and stick to the hotel at night.

I live here and the most I can say is that if you have Mardi Gras in your plans then stick to the French Quarter or in Metairie on the Veterans Blvd. rout. Please try to keep a front pouch on you instead of bringing a purse. Enjoy your self and welcome to our city.

They may start a curfew with all the killings down there this year.
Call the police dept when you get there and see if there are any places they tell you to stay away from.
Have a safe trip and hurry back! We need you on the politics site!

You should avoid any part of the USA and go back to Iran where you belong.
