I took a Bull Frog hand size which is pretty big. I hooked his feet with a 3/0 with the barb facing down towards the web. I trolled my Jon boat in pnd known to have large Bass at 3:00AM.
It was dark and all I could see was the Bobber moving as the frog tried to kick away.
Two hours go by and nothing happens and I am about to give up having done smoked half a pack of cigarettes and drank down six Beers.
The all of a sudden when that Frog kicked one more time on top of that water, a huge explosion hit. I opened my reel and let the line out and followed it with my trolling motor so he wouldn;t take out too much line.
Then I closed the bell housing and waited. The fish stopped. so I stopped trolling. I sat there for five minutes and my line started to pull out again. So I started to troll again following it backards. MY troll was in revrse.

The reason why I waited to set the hook was that I hooks the frog in the leg, I had to wait till this Bass swallows that entire frog in his stomach. before setting the Hook.

Another ten miutes there abouts goes by and the fish stops again so I stop.

The the unthinkable happen, he took off like a rocket and I had no choice at that time, but to pull back and set the hook.
The fight was on. I got him Hooked.
I start trolling again in reverse and my drag is running like a bat out of hell.
The fish slows down and then breaks water at about 30 feet in front of me. Its dark and I can't see him so I have no idea how big it is, but it feels huge.

The Bass slows down and then again breaks water and comes out at 20 feet in front of my boat and what I seen was the biggest large mouth Bass in my life. I got all shook up.
I didn't want to lose him.

I played this Bass for nearly 20 minutes till he decided to calm down and belly up.

I trolled near him and pulled up the tip of my rod and this Bass was huge I grabbed my net and tried to net him, but he shot back down under the water pulling more drag at 15 ft or so. I had to reel him back in and praying to get a second shot at netting him.

Here comes the fish as I pull my rod tip back up and bring him up on top so I can net him and I finally get the net on him, but he's too big and falls out of the net...my God I was frustrated I'm going to lose this fish but he doesn't swim away, he is tired and I still got him hooked good in the stomach.

I bring him up again and decide to just grab him with my hand in his mouth when he opens it up.

I grabbed the fish and my pole fell in the water, but I held on too the fish. The hook unbelievably comes out and now I have the fish in my boat and my rod and reel is gone, but I got the fish.

I screamed and hollerd. You could of heard me a half a mile away. I was so damn happy,. I finally go me a big Trophy Bass. I was already thinking, I can't wait to get it in the paper, I'm somebody now.

If I had not grabbed that fish and made that decision...one more run and he would of been gone for good.

I trolled back to the ramp on full with my Minkota trolling motor and run the Jon boat on the grass at the ramp and the end was still in the water..I called my wife from my cell phone. She answered and I told her you won't believe the Bass I just caught. I'm on my way home to bring him to you. She told me to calm down,. I was excited and talking so fast. I told my wife your gonna shiit when you see this fish I swear to God I got me a record catch.

That Bass just guessing weighed at least 19 to 20 lbs. It was huge.

Now are you ready for this shiit.

When I backed up my Truck to the ramp. I got out and the Bass flipped inside my boat by the battery and jumped out and back in the water I ran into the water hoping to get him, but it was no good and it was dark/ My wallet got wet and my clothes and I just sat there in despair cussing my self out and I tell you I was one mad mutha as I cried.
I was so pissed off it wasn't funny. To this day I still kick myself in the asss for leaving that fish in the boat. I had no idea he would do that.

I have never caught this fish again and it is still there in Paulk Park, Fitzgerald Georgia. About 30 miles North from Tifton, Georgia.

It hurts as I remember it, but hey, a lesson learned that come too late. Never leave a large Mouth Bass unattended in a boat unless it is tied up.

Two months later I landed a 14 lb largemouth Bass, but it was no where near the size of the one that jumped out of my boat.
This happened three years ago back in 2004, you can only iagine how big that fish is now. I still fish that pond, but to no avail have I ever got another chance at this fish.

Hm, if you want to use them live, than hook them through the mouth and through their body, although, it might not be easy to watch if your like me D: I dont see why fake ones wont work as well as live ones.
