Mary was the mother of Jesus. There was also Mary Magdalene, who was one of his followers.

In "The Da Vinci Code" and other works, it has been asserted that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were married. Suffice it to say, this is VERY controversial!

During Jesus day there was several Mary's.
Mary, the wife of Joseph, was the mother of Jesus.
Mary Magdalene was a follower of Jesus and was married to Jesus...Jewish law at that time said teaches of the law had to marry in order to give counsel and encouragement to the masses.
One last thought, someone said here that the angel Gabriel was the biological father, that is wrong, it was Gods holy spirit that transferred his only begotten son from heaven into the womb of Mary, a virgin, this was a extraordinary miracle, Gabriel was only a messenger that told her what to expect.
Peace.....

Mary is the mother of God's son, Jesus. Confusing is the other one Mother of God eh? How can a human be higher than God? But the bible clearly says Mary is the mother of the Son of God...not God.
