You go in to your doctor, and you get a mammogram. He can tell you whether or not to be concerned. That really is the only way, because even if you can see or feel something, it may be cystic or benign.

Don't panic, just call your doctor and set one up. If nothing else, panic will make you feel worse, and isn't necessarily justified.

Start by seeing your doctor. He/she will give you a breast exam.
Next, they will probably have you get a mammogram, which
should be taken once a year every year after 40 years old. Some
times a sonogram will also be given Neither of these tests are painful. Don't be afraid to seek professional help. It's the only way to be sure. With modern methods these days, much higher success rates are occurring, but finding it sooner than later is the key. Good luck.

The breasts sit on the chest muscles that cover the ribs. Each breast is made of 15 to 20 lobes. Lobes contain many smaller lobules. Lobules contain groups of tiny glands that can produce milk. Milk flows from the lobules through thin tubes called ducts to the nipple. The nipple is in the center of a dark area of skin called the areola. Fat fills the spaces between the lobules and ducts.

The breasts also contain lymph vessels. These vessels lead to small, round organs called lymph nodes. Groups of lymph nodes are near the breast in the axilla (underarm), above the collarbone, in the chest behind the breastbone, and in many other parts of the body. The lymph nodes trap bacteria, cancer cells, or other harmful substances.

There is a nation wide program that offers free breast screening at local family clinics. If you called any local hospital they would be willing to direct you to the participating doctors. Don't wait. Good luck.

There is no way to know without being examined by a physician. If you are concerned because you have found a lump you should have it evaluated but most lumps are not cancer

If you feel a lump, go to a doctor ASAP.

Don't put it off.

At worst, you'll learn how to distinguish a normal bump from something bad.

Good luck!
