can my mother whom draws social security income keep foster kids or would she then loose her check each montyh

i wouldn't think so, as the check that she receives for keeping the child is supposed to benefit THE CHILD. best to ask someone at your local social security office or wherever she's planning on going to become certified to foster...

She would not lose her check because she does not have to count the money for the foster kids as income because it is not for her, it is for their care. The thing she should keep in mind is that the state does not give you enough money to cover all the needs of the foster kids and someone on a fixed income might find it difficult to provide for their remaining needs.

when i was a foster parent my money was not taxable, that much i know but just call the social security office and ask...also if she has any interest fostering a special needs child pays three and a half times more and for only one child...special needs can be asthma, or emotional issues or a whole list of manageble issues
