i know people usually dont go back to their answers, but for those who do, and those who have not answered yet: i have changed my routine. Basically, for two months ive been strength training, going with massive weight, no more than 4 or 5 times. i know this builds size. but even then i would feel minimal strain the next day. Now, im on to a new technique, where i train with ligther weight.
First 5 reps, i go as fast as i can.
Next 5, i take 5 seconds on the way up and 5 seconds on the way down (Or which ever way im straining against)
Then the last 5 i go normal speed, maybe 1-2 seconds on the way up and same back down.
Total of 15 reps, and maybe 2-3 sets of each.

So after doing this, i can feel the burn in the gym, but still am not feeling the soreness. I guess i just want to know, if i feel really sore, does that mean i worked them MORE than if i feel moderately to little soreness? thanks to everyone whos answered so far.

I have been working out for 3 years. All it means is that your muscles have got used to the workouts you are doing therefore you need to be doing DIFFERENT exercises for each muscle group. Don't repeat the same exercises week after week. Do different bicep, tricep, deltoid exercises every week and be sure you are lifting to your maximum intensity. Buy a good book with tons of workouts you can do for each muscle group.

My husband is a personal trainer , and a body builder with a lot of experience. He tought me that pain doesnt mean that it really worked. It happens specially at the begginig when your muscles are weak, but after some time of hard training you just feel tired. When you let rest some muscle for a long period and push again you will feel it. Try different exercises for every group of muscles every month., and it will work it in a differetn angle.Increase the number of repetions to twenty the las three should be almost imposible to finish, and if not you have to increase the weight

It's probably because you need to add more weight. Using the same amount of weight overtime will help you tone up, but it won't make you bulk up more than you already are. you probably shouldn't be lifting weights everyday because your muscles need rest in between. You probably should do some aerobic exercises like running or the eliptical thing in between. Also calisthenics like push ups and situps. If you do different types of exercises you'll work different parts of your muscle that you probably don't use as much by just lifting weights. Go to the batting cage and hit against the 80 or 90 mph for half and hour. You'll definitely be sore after that.

If you work out 5 or 6 days a week, and have done so for awhile, your muscles are simply used to the load. Try lifting heavier weights.

If your muscles get sore the same day, you are working them too hard. If they get sore the next day, this is a sign that they are building up (and repairing microtears in the tissue, which is probably what you are referring to. If you were literally tearing up your muscles, you wouldn't be able to move).

It means that you are fit but also that you do proper warm up and cool down exercises. As long as you work up a sweat and get slightly breathless then that's good. 6 days is probably too many. 4 to 5 would be more beneficial. It's important to have rest days.
