Hey there,

I've lost fifty pounds. Here is a great web-site. www.sparkpeople.com is my favorite site. It's totally free. On a diet and with health in general you want to reduce your intake of refined flours, so... cut down on white bread, white pasta, candy (it has "white" sugar), pastry's with white flour --- look for whole grain things, eat tons of veggies (broccoli/spinach are great for you). Fruits are good for you because they will satisfy a sweet tooth without too much sugar. Eat regularly to keep your metabolism up. Flavor your food with herbs and spices so that it's not bland and you'll want to eat it. Eat a little of the bad foods from time to time to reward yourself. Drink tons of water. Move as much as possible. It's all about consistency and moderation.

Here is a site with tons of info and articles.

Carbs like rice, bread, pasta shouldn't be eaten after 5 pm or so. So not for dinner. Fill up on lots of veggies and meat. Only eat fruit in the morning so you can burn off sugar in day.

avoid anything that does not come directly from a tree or plant.
for example here are ok foods:
apple, orange, avocado, potato, broccoli, squash, rice, lentils, black-eyed peas, radishes, oatmeal, strawberries, pecans. stay in the produce section.

these you should not eat: (does not come from a plant)
rice chex, hot pockets, steak, bread, cheese, fish sticks, cake, apple fritters, pecan pie, etc. none of this stuff actually grows on plants.

use this principle and you can't go wrong.
