and yet it is never anything to do with the dogs intelligence etc it is the owner who has no idea how to train the dog and thus creates the behaviour problems. I have seen countless questions on here where people say things like "My dog is bad because it barks" "My dog is mean because it attacks other dogs/cats" "My dog is stupid because he wont come when I call or do what I say"

All of those statements are practically idiotic, dogs arent bad, stupid or mean because of those reasons... they can develop unwanted behaviours because of lack of good training or no training at all, or improper training. Whatever way you look at it, in every case where someone states something similar to the above comments it is their own ignorance of dogs and training that causes these problems and it is not the dog. What do you think??

i agree. If you watch Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer) you will see that Almost EVERY dog behavior can be corrected with the right discipline and training. People are ignorant, and i guess they think a dog is supposed to just COME knowing how to sit, not chew on things, not chase things, come when you call, when those things are all Natural instincts to a dog. People like to just blame the dog for being a 'bad' dog because they don't want to spend the time or effort, or they just don't know how to train properly

It's easier to blame the dog than to blame themselves! Dogs are smart by nature but need training to learn things that are not in their natural nature such as eating, barking, etc. Dogs have to be shown how to behave and if shown properly and the regiment is held to, the dogs will learn quickly. Lazy owners always want to blame the dog as if they are born knowing to do everything the owner wishes! Sickening.

Because of your listed reasons, I feel people get the dog they deserve. No training means untrained dog. I agree. Have a great year.

It's easier to blame your dog for being a "bad" dog than it is to admit that you did a lousy job training it. I've always been of the opinion that there is no such thing as a bad dog, it's a bad owner.

I think you are very right. It`s not fair to blame it all on dogs. The people that are their "Owners" should be blamed and should switch places with the dog, seeing that they`re too stupid to even discipline themselves to train their dog.You were smart enough to see and point out to us this important growing problem. You must be a true dog lover,Kelly C.

It has been my experience that most people always just blame someone else, for instance the dog, for something they have created. I am thinking the next time someone tells me that there dog failed obedience class, I am going to say, oh no he/she didn't, you failed to teach your dog what you were taught and it takes more than one hour per week in obedience class for the dog to learn. My belief is there really are no dumb dog, just dumb people.

Very simply, because no one wants to admit that THEY are 'bad', 'stupid'.'mean' or 'whatever'..or just plain, lazy, uneducated, ignorant and incompetent.
It is much easier to blame it on the dog, than oneself..

sad thing is...many of those same people raise children!

I agree, it's much easier to blame the dog, than to admit that they are lazy and irresponsible. And the dog can't argue about it.
