This British government under Blair. Very difficult. He would have to ask his masters in the EU and America if he could. They would say no especially in Europe they don't want the immigrants why do you think they bother with Blair. He is an easy touch open the door for anyone who wants a free ride. Normal government no problem. We are an island so it will be easy. Tell me when I will block the harbour were I live.

There are some good examples of liberal narrow minded comments. Closing the borders does not mean stopping people from entering the country. I think we need our tourism. But when ferry fulls of eastern europeans turn up i think its safe to say they are not here to see buckingham palace.

As with everything in life there is a balance. Places like italy and spain are facing a similar problem with a mass exodus from africa into europe.

closing the borders wouldn't do a thing, don't forget how narrow the channel is, small boats pop across from France all the time. Anchor off any beach on the south coast and you can pop into town do a bit of shopping go back to your boat and home to France without anyone taking any notice.
I am sure those who want to come in and not go home do the same.

Extremely easy...when there was a foot and mouth outbreak a few years back they shut them down very quicly and efficiently. It's really not that difficult since the vast majority of Great Britain is an island! The only real border is between Ireland and Northern Ireland and hopefully that will be disappearing soon.

If your talking about for Immigrants, they could do this easily. But it only stops the legal immigrants, the illegal immigrants come in, in the same way.
If you talking about everything. Then our economy would be hit really hard, even if it was for a single day. Think about all the exports and imports that are happening around the UK. A plane lands and takes of in Heathrow like every 30 seconds.

Very easy - and very damaging!

Britain's trade would collapse at one, the economy would go down, and Brits abroad would be stranded. Also, we wouldn't be able to leave the mess for a few weeks in the sun. On the other hand, the place would be such a disaster zone that we wouldn't have many immigrants wanting to come here. I suppose that would make destroying the country worthwhile for a few bigots.

In my opinion it would be easy, but with all the red tape they claim to go through and then the European law courts, then it will proberly never happen. If they were to call for a state law ie Us run by ourr army then i would think there would be way around it.
