If this is true:

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

....then this is still valid, right? :

Deuteronomy 22:28-29
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,
29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [a] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

It's only true dependent on the amount of Christians that can contradict themselves and 'defend' their way out of it.

Times have changed, silly! But interpretation remains as close-minded as ever.

Ok, my take on this.
Jesus was born and died a Jew, he kept the laws. Per the words reported to have been spoken by the man "Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
Now what I get from that is 'Do not think to change the Laws that have been laid down by God as long as there is a Heaven and an Earth' and until al the prophecies have been fulfilled.

It is Paul/Saul who says that it had been fulfilled.

It comes down to whether you are a follower of Jesus or a follower of Paul.

Look at the scripture in its entirety though:

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED"

What did Jesus say on the cross? "It is finished" (John 19:30)

Jesus gave the sermon on the mount (which that scripture from Mark and Luke is the prelude to) early in his ministry. Until Jesus finished his mission, the law must have still applied. However since Jesus finished his mission, we are not bound by the laws of the Old Testament. We find atonement through Christ, and we find righteousness through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our lawgiver, and it leads us to all righteous things and lets us know what is wicked. That is why the Holy Spirit was referred to as the Counselor (John 14:17).

"Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law." Galatians 3:23

Jesus came to fulfill the Law. The Law was put in place by God to demonstrate the sinfulness of man - no man can keep the Law. That's why there were sacrifices in the Old Testament. Now that Jesus was sacrificed once and for all to atone for man's sins, the Old Law has passed away. But generally, we should try to follow the "Thou shalt not's" - the punishments are not the same, because Jesus took our punishment for our sins.

When you take a look at the context and the pretext of the first two verses quoted, you can see that Jesus was clarifying his relationship to the law of Moses. In the time before Jesus came and did the work on the cross that provided for the forgiveness of sins for all who believed in him, man was under another covenent with God. In order for man to be blameless in the sight of God, blood had to be spilled, hence the sacrifices of the unblemished animals in the temple. The second set of verses are a part of the Mosaic law, the set of laws that the Jewish race adhered to. Jesus stated that he did not come to destoy the law, but instead to fulfill it. He lived a sinless life, blameless in the sight of God, and shed HIS blood on the cross to cover the sins of all of mankind who will believe in him. I think this is the meaning of the scriptures.

Matthew 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled

Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of the word of God, when He was born of a virgin mother, Mary, taught in the synagogues, was not accepted by His own people, and was crucified for our sins and then rose again in three days, He still lives! Praise the Lord!!

Man's laws have been rewritten by man and has followed what the world does when they follow satan.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Why do you think that God says we are all sinners. There are so many of God's laws that people are not following. The only way for us to learn what is expected of us by God is to study His word every day. The word it's self will change what needs to be changed from the inside of us. That is what faith in God's word does for a follower of God. and His word.

God knows this about us...

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

If everyone walked in life constantly with the Lord and obeyed God's word, no one would be raped, and a man would marry a woman as God intended them to.

1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband

But this world has become acceptant of those who live and do as a married couple but are not married. This is fornication.
You want to know how to avoid fornication???

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Not only will you learn what is expected from you by God by reading of His word, but through that reading you shall be strengthened by it and resist temptation of fornication. Put on the armor of the Lord. Read the word of God and appliy it to your life.

If you dont' well then not all people who call themselves Christians will go to heaven because they do not do the will of God or obey Him.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

You just misread the scriptures and have it absolutely and totally backwards.

The last four words of the passage you quote change the entire meaning of all that came before them.

"Till all be fulfilled."

Jesus himself later explained that he had fulfilled all that was written about him in the law, the psalms, and the prophets, and that his job was finished.

All was fulfilled, and the old law expired, replaced by the new covenant and the church, which has the exclusive power and authority to make new laws to govern the faithful.

Your passage from Dueteronomy is totally obsolete and no longer in force.

Sorry.

Your question in Deuteronomy is true. A violated virgin became the wife of the one who committed the crime.
Sad, a nation of God's chosen people, and there would be some that would put their own fleshly desires above Gods Law.
Your questions of Mathew account is were Jesus related that all prophecies written about him (over 600) would be fulfilled, including his death and resurrection, as well as his Kingdom that was born in 1914.

It is not true in our country, but it was in those days and in the land of Israel. Frankly that would cut down on the rape of women if men knew they woulld have to support that woman for the rest of their lives. That is the problem with men, they want to have pleasure without responsibility and committment. Men just discard women and their children with no thought that they are destroying lives, and in those day that could mean total disgrace and poverty for that woman and her child for the rest of their lives. God says you can't separate the two. The law made them accountable. Frankly I think the way women are abused today is contemptableand I agree with God on this one.

The key word is the law is fullfilled. Things may still not be a good idea but any consequence has already been paid and there fore we are not subserviant ot the law only to God directly.
